the very first gay couple, EVER, in the history of the country, to be legally married in the heartland, in the midwest.



Congratulations, Sean Fritz, 24 and Timothy McQuillan, 21, who took their vows in a ceremony performed by the Rev. Mark Stringer in Des Moines, Iowa.

..... since the decision that allowed them to marry has been stayed, will they be in some sort of limbo if it is reversed?

It seems to me they should be able to remain married and retain all the rights of every other married couple.

27. I had similar thoughts, H2S
it seems it will be decided by the Iowa courts (who will also decide the larger question of whether the ruling itslf will be overturned). So, in the meantime, as you say, they are in legal limbo, but considered fully married until otherwise adjudicated. It should be noted that they, like all gay married couples in MA, are NOT considered married by the Federal Gov't, courtesy of the "Defense of Marriage" Act, which forbids federal recognition of all same sex marriages.
