2. Thankfully, they will be only a few blocks from some of their handiwork
Their handiwork being the crumbled infrastructure that brought the 35W bridge crashing down.

Not that they would take the time to go and look.

3. Republican "Leadership" can pose by the collapsed bridge
to show one and all how well their tax cuts work.

5. Exactly!
As a former citizen of the Twin Cities, I was appalled and heartbroken to see (on TV and the internet) the ruins of that bridge.

4. I heard on CNN that they are flying folks into Chicago or Milwaukee
and putting them on buses to Minneapolis?

Didn't sound like a joke.

6. I am not sure that is entirely due to an MSP airport boycott
Because MSP is a hub for Northwest, and there is not a whole lot of competition for Northwest at MSP, it is likely to be far cheaper to fly into Chicago or Milwaukee and be bussed in than it is to fly directly into MSP.

9. They said the republicans wanted to avoid using that airport
Edited on Fri Sep-07-07 06:59 AM by proud2Blib
Didn't say why but I assumed it was a boycott.

10. Could be, but again, the expense of flying in and out of there could be a factor
and I am certain that CNN knows that if they reported THAT part, that it would not garner the good ratings that an airport boycott for say, a sexual scandal would.

11. wow, talk about inconvenient...
If you go really fast and don't make any stops, you can get to the twin cities in about 5-1/2 to 6 hours from Milwaukee... if there is no road construction going on. Chicago, probably another hour. Silly pubbies.

15. City to construct 200 additional men's rooms.
A press release from the office of Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybeck states: "In anticipation of the 2008 Republican Convention, the city will add 200 men's rooms to the Minneapolis Convention Center. These will be state of the art 'comfort stations' with soft, low lighting, continuous tapes of Judy Garland and Bette Midler playing, and complimentary condoms. We want Republican delegates to feel right at home."
