New interpreter needed for Amish housing code case
A new interpreter will be sought for a case involving Amish defendants in Morristown.

The one used Thursday night wasn't conversant enough in Pennsylvania Dutch to make the defendants understand the charges.

"We're all looking at one another with that look, 'this isn't working out,'" defense attorney Steve Ballan said.

"It's not good enough for them to have a general idea of what they're charged with," Ballan said, noting that his clients face potential jail time.

The six Amish men are accused of ignoring town building codes.
