Our levee was built decades ago to stop the floods. In the 60s, a dam was built to stop the same floods. The Corps has said that there is no longer a "national" flood threat.
Bottom line: We have a wonderful river that cannot be seen because of the levees!
Why shouldn't they be torn down?

If you mean the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, all I can say is I doubt I will trust a single thing they say ever again after what happened to us in New Orleans.
