Arab and Muslim Men do 'indeed' dye their beards

This is especially common here in Arabia. Typically, it is henna... it will start out black and then fade to a reddish tint over time.

Also note, Pakistanis (especially Pathans who live in the NW frontier regions) are especially fond of doing this.

I have heard one too many 'so called' Middle-East and Muslim experts give out false information about this concerning the most recent bin Laden video. I have even seen henna-dyed imams.

Come visit Arabia for awhile I will be glad to show you as many dyed beards as you like.


I even had mine dyed by the very good Pakistani barbers here a few times...

It is also a pretty good time to rant about America's Middle-East experts. Right, or left... They don't have an F'ing clue. Things have changed so fast here over the past 10-15 years that you really have to be here to have a good grip on it.

I worked on a cruise ship that docked there on the Prophet's birthday! LOL

I took the red bus tour out along the coast while the sun was setting. It was absolutely gorgeous.

This was right after the Dubai port controversy, and I remember thinking that if more Americans had ever been to Dubai, there wouldn't have been any controversy at all. At times, it felt more American than America there. Massive construction, huge shopping malls, the biggest billboards on Planet Earth! If it hadn't been for every sign I could see being in Arabic, I wouldn't have realized I was in a foreign country. Oh, and then we drove past that behemoth of a flagpole flying the UAE flag. Big clue, LOL.

However, it isn't a 100% settled issue as culture sometimes clashes with religion.

Women pierce their ears and get their hands painted with henna.

So, you can't just say X is outlawed in Islam... Often people compromise when it comes to cultural issues.

I have quite a few Persian friend who use dye, have multiply pierced ears, and wear miniskirts.
