I don't think the day went too good for the general betreyus today
and I wouldn't be one bit surprised if he isn't called back to Iraq any moment now. I think he sensed that the Democratic committee members didn't believe a word he said and he's not real sure they aren't circling like sharks do when they smell blood in the water. He was very nervous and seemed to give a sigh of relief when the repukes would be asking him and crocker questions. He knows we know he's lying and he knows that we also know that lying to congress is a felony too. Yep, his career might have jumped the shark today

1. They'll send him back to Iraq and put him to work...
...disarming IEDs with his teeth. He'll soon be tragically killed in the line of duty and sanctified as a towering example of military honor. As a result, today's testimony will be regarded as little less than the holy word of God, and will quickly become the de facto "truth." Anyone rash enough to call its veracity into question will be accused of "spitting on the graves of our gallant fighting men and women."

5. What you said was amazingly sad...
...and very prophetic.

That's probably what will happen.

That's exactly something that they will do. They use people like objects, and when
those objects are finished serving--they get rid of them.

Unfortunately, this object will best serve the Bush team as a hero who can't return
several years later and write a tell-all book.

3. I think that the Senate has him tomorrow
It may be out of the frying pan and into the fire. To me the real question now is will the congress and senate finally stand up to lil boots* and withdraw funding beyond what it takes to drawdown.

7. I've seen lots of snakes in my day and he is a snake of a poisonous kind
that chest full of metals won't or can't save him now and he knows it. I fully expected to see him throw his papers up in the air this morning and storm out of there. Yes, he definitely had his colon powell moment today

likely to pee down his leg at the chest-puffing of a bunch of politicians.

12. Untrue
Unless you think Kerry was also a liar in Jan 2003.

Petraeus was fed information same as most. He didn't create the information.

This guy has been serving the US for about 37 years. A whole lot longer than pretty much any current politician. To say that he's a Bush puppet, as so many seem to think here, or a tool for any other politician is about as idiotic as it gets.

How many people here or on Capitol Hill have truly served ANYTHING for 37 years? This man has no reason to be beholden to any of the politicos, and to say otherwise just distracts more from the true villans.

this whole notion that somehow status quo folk passed lies but didn't know is poppycock.

and petraeus who source very little of his information yesterday before congress is giving very good proof of that.

9. I think it's wrong to call him Betreyus. Especially from people who don't want their patriotism
questioned. I think it's called hypocrisy.

14. caught bits and pieces of the hearing
although I have internet connection at work - there's no sound card in the freaking computer so watching/listening to it was useless - and there's very very very bad am/fm radio reception in this area - about the only RWspews/sports/God comes in clear

ennywho - I did catch one interesting bit on the drive home when I escaped from the dead-radio zone...

patreaus said an interesting thing in his opening statement - he said his TESTIMONY was his... he didn't say the REPORT was his, yet his testimony is based on the report.
