Should We Donate to this to get "Real News?"
Edited on Mon Sep-10-07 09:26 PM by KoKo01
I've checked the website out...and it seems there are good people there sponsoring this.

Here's the link to "Real News." and what it's about...a new effort:

Here's an interview with the Founder, Paul Jay, from "Buzzflash," explaining why he's starting this with help from journalists who want to bring us "The Real News:"

And...here's a "You Tube" interview with him for those who don't want to read the long Buzzflash interview:

3. They say...this Fall...looking
for some money...And, it's tax deductable for those of us who have a few coins left that it matters. :shrug; I've not been sure about it, either...but there's a push with Naomi Klein's "Shock Treatment Video" over at You Tube to link to it.

I don't know why we need another news web site. We need a get the news to red/rural America web site.

you can get it online with Daily Headlines. If you aren't on Dial Up watch the video on the upper right of the site for what they are trying to do. It sounds so good ....I can wish. I'm going to send them something...and wait and see.

5. Barring the US government creating an American equivalent of the BBC, it seems good.
Ultimately, if the government doesn't step in, I guess that leaves people with the opportunity to organize their own news outlets through mass collective action, such as setting up a donor's list to provide start-up capital for an independent news outlet that is owned by the donor's for the benefit of the donors. To ensure that rich donors don't simply dominate less wealthy donors, a cap on individual donations should be put in place, but I think Real News has actually done that.
