From an e-mail from PFAW: (italics are my responses)
This past Thursday on the campus of Xavier University in Cincinnati your dollars made the difference. While Ann Coulter was giving a hate-filled speech on one side of campus, hundreds of progressive Xavier students and their supporters rallied on the other. More than $28,000 was presented to progressive Xavier student groups that fight for the communities Coulter routinely attacks.
The event emphasized the solidarity of the progressive groups on campus, and the importance of working together for a more diverse, inclusive and compassionate student body and society.
By contrast, Ann Coulter spouted these gems in her speech*:
"Liberals don't recognize the existence of evil, the closest thing to it in their vocabulary is Wal-Mart." Well, Ann, we have to believe in YOU. That's evil enough. "The fact that liberals are godless is not even a controversial point anymore." Tell that to people like the good Reverend who was hurt during the protests in D.C., Ann. Democrats, she said, "believe public restrooms are only for snorting coke." This borders on broad-brush slander. Terrorists, Coulter said, "are Democrats with more gumption." Who, precisely, are the religious fanatics around here? I thought so.
After her talk, she was asked how she could justify her attacks as a Christian. She defended her hatemongering by saying that Jesus also used sarcasm and jokes to get his message across.
Unfortunately, we were not able to get film footage of Ms. Coulter comparing herself to Jesus, but there is some great video from the counter event, including interviews with Xavier students.
