It's been six years since that terrible day when 19 terrorists, 15 from Saudi Arabia, turned airliners into weapons and killed nearly 3,000 innocent people in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania.

It was a day that changed everything. It brought the entire world together in sympathy and support for the tragic losses we suffered. It brought a troubled presidency back to life with unprecedented poll ratings and public approval. It also brought a new vocabulary into our lexicon. Phrases like "good versus evil," "evildoers" and "with us or against us." Language usually reserved for Marvel comic books became commonplace

We stood united as a people and the world stood with us. It was a rare, fleeting moment in American history.

Six years and two wars later, as we reflect on this dark anniversary with the benefit of the passage of time, what have we learned from this most sobering experience? Is America safer today from another similar attack as this administration would claim? If you believe the official story and video tapes, the "evildoer" responsible for the attacks is still at large, still releasing threatening statements that glorify the "martyrs" and promise further death to America.

And we now know that Bush, who still pretends to be the Great Protector of America, ignored an intelligence report released one month prior to 9-11 entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US." But, Bush was too busy wandering around his ranch, pondering the ethical considerations of stem cell research during month-long vacation in Crawford to pay any attention to those pesky CIA guys who interrupted his brush cutting at the Prairie Chapel to bring him boring pieces of paper to read.

When the morning of 9-11-2001, arrived with its deadly, fiery consequences, Bush barely interrupted his reading to elementary school students to react to the news that the dire predictions he ignored had come true.

Surely Bush has learned something about the importance of protecting America since then, right? In fact, our ports and borders remain unsecured, our infrastructure is crumbling as evidenced by the recent explosion in New Yorkand the bridge collapse in Minnesota. And as another incredible American tragedy - hurricane Katrina - recently taught us, neither FEMA nor the massive Department of Homeland Security, ironically created after 9-11 to safeguard Americans from dangers foreign and domestic, can protect and/or rescue American citizens drowning and dying on our own coast. Not even when they have advance warning of a massive, approaching storm. Heck-of-a-job, Bush.

More Americans have now died in Afghanistan and Iraq than were killed on 9-11. All the global goodwill for America has evaporated in the wake of our disastrous foreign policy, torture of innocent Muslims, disregard for the UN and utter disrespect shown to other nations of the world. Our Constitutional rights and protections have been virtually eliminated by the Patriot Act(s); Bush and his cronies have shown a flagrant disregard for the FISA courts and the entire Judicial Branch in general. The firefighters and rescue workers - the true heroes of that day - struggle with respiratory disease and cancers, and are now victims themselves of a massive cover-up of the true dangers of the toxic dust they inhaled in the line of duty that day. A simple warning would have been sufficient.

And should we face another act of terror on our shores there is little National Guard remaining in America to do what they were trained to do - defend America from attack. They've all been dispatched to Iraq, which Bush finally and reluctantly admitted - after much propaganda to the contrary - had no relationship at all to the attacks of 9-11. Is there al Qaeda in Iraq? I'm certain there is, as a direct reaction to our illegal invasion and occupation. In their wildest dreams Osama and al Qaeda could not have created a better terrorist recruiting tool than George Bush.

So today Bush will cough up some weak, meaningless words about the day that changed America forever. And we'll be forced to listen. But are we safer? We will not be truly safe until this madman is removed from power. He alone remains the single greatest threat to America.

He used to be my Congressman, before Corzine appointed him to fill his Senate seat when he was elected Governor. I've basically made it my job to be a boil on his ass (along with Lautenberg and my new Rep. Albio Sires). I have to say of the three, Sires hasn't let me down yet. I was concerned because when he was running for the house seat, Sires' bio on his campaign site mentioned proudly how his daughter clerked for Fat Tony Scalia, but so far he's doing ok.

It's a lovely state even though parts of it smell bad. NJ is even more liberal than NY.

since the now 12 yr. old was 3, and he won't budge. I live rather close to a nuclear plant, and any time there's an 'incident' with release of radiation into the atmosphere is always couched with 'within acceptable limits', so I think parts smelling bad could be a trade up that I could mention!

Over the years when I've noticed plants that just don't look right and strange looking bugs (mutant looking), my neighbors seem to get upset when they're seeing the same things and I mention, "We're living too close to Sequoyah". I just love messin' with their heads! :evilgrin:

We grow cucumbers, too, and my kids have eaten them as snacks since they were young, and the 14 yr. old will still go out and pick one, peel it, slice it and dip the slices in dressing for a snack.

Do you have a service like that where you live?? We have these big bloodhounds who can be hired to search for your beloved pet. A friend of mine used one to find her exotic cat. the trail went dead but she lives in the mountains. It's almost certain that a mountain lion got him.

Or..... there are pet finders like psychics too! I always wanted to call The Pet Psychic, oh what's her name. She was on TV. I just loved to watch her....

edited to add: Apparently there was a nasty wreck on I-75 southbound today and I accidentally got caught in the traffic that diverted and were going to use the Ooltewah exchange to get back onto 75. Anyway, I saw a 'Fred '08' sticker and a complete dumbass who had a Bush/Cheney'04 sticker along with a a 'W, still the president' on his. As traffic turned out, they had to sit and read the back of my car, and they just couldn't freakin' handle what they were seeing. I looooove having that effect on these dolts! :spank:

I know what it's like. My 25-minute commute took 1 hour today. I had plenty of leisure time to read automotive communication. If they were liberal, I let them merge into my lane.

I hope it was the stickers and their shock at seeing them. It was raining and I was wearing jeans, a tank covered by another shirt...I'm older and not such a stunner anymore, so I prefer to think it's the stickers!!!

I was wondering what to put on my protest sign for this Saturday's march in DC. A friend suggested the Lafayette Memorial, where locals gather every Sunday on private property in Lafayette, CA to plant icons in memory of those killed in this obscene "war". They update a large sign with the number of soldiers killed (it's updated each week). So today I drove over to take a current image with the most recently updated sign. I honestly forgot it was September 11. Here's one of the images:



This is just a small area of the hillside, which can be clearly seen from an adjacent freeway. And the number on the sign today was "800,000". I know all Truthseekers will know what this represents.

Why does no one in power have the decency to challenge * and his thugs? I despair.
