Castration Lets Rapist Avoid Life Sentence
Castration Lets Rapist Avoid Life Sentence
Man To Serve 25 Years In Prison

PANAMA CITY, Fla. -- A confessed rapist has agreed to be castrated in a plea deal that could save him from a life prison sentence.

Bobby James Allen pleaded guilty on Monday to three counts of armed sexual battery and various other charges involving attacks that happened in 1998 and 1999. Allen filed a motion requesting castration in exchange for a reduced sentence.

Circuit Judge Michael Overstreet agreed to sentence Allen to 25 years in prison on Sept. 20 if he has the procedure in the next eight days. If Allen does not go through with the operation, he faces up to life in prison.

"You understand that this procedure is the removal of your testicles?" Overstreet asked Allen.

2. I thought "rape isn't about sex"
And offering a reduced sentence is just creepy, though that gets into whether we incarcerate criminals to reform them, punish them, or protect us.

3. First, it's voluntary. Then, it's "voluntary." After that we're all fucked.
This is NOT a good road for American justice to be going down.

4. And if he rapes again, what will they remove next?
Obvious answer.

The dude was convicted on 3 counts of armed sexual battery. Rape is far more about doing violence to gain power, then it is about sex. Rape is a very violent crime - cutting off the guys balls may not do a damn thing to reduce his need to excerpt power over others.

What a stupid, stupid deal. Lock the lowlife up for life! That is the only way to 100% assure that the general public will not be exposed to the like of him again. And if he got raped in prison - that would be real poetic justice.

5. Criminal juistice gone bad
He ought to go to prison for life, and prison ought to be such a horrible, hellish place that no sane person would ever commit a crime.
