Petraeus has a history. He's hardly objective. Moveon is right.
This is from Glenn Greenwald of Salon.com

Documenting Gen. Petraeus' record of statements about the war
Jane Hamsher of FireDogLake has produced a video, which, along with Matt Stoller, I helped put together and narrated, documenting the four-years-long record of Gen. Petraeus in repeatedly assuring Americans that the war is going well and great progress is being made...

It is actually amazing to watch media coverage of Gen. Petraeus' testimony depict him as though he has just risen from the apolitical ether as the objective and trustworthy source ...

The White House is desperate for that image to be maintained because the nation no longer trusts George Bush or Dick Cheney or other Republican office-holders...

But since the inception of the war, Gen. Petraeus has been at the forefront of issuing those sorts of highly -- and unduly -- optimistic statements about the war's progress...

... it is inexcusable to exclude from (the media's) coverage these facts -- facts which demonstrate indisputably that what Gen. Petraeus is claiming this week about the war's success is exactly what he has been claiming for the last several years.

...

-- Glenn Greenwald

1. Petraeus could be expected to say what they wanted him to say.
When he was appointed in January, he had three stars. If you noticed during his testimony, he now has four. His reward for this crap was a promotion from Lt. General to General. Even then he refused to say this clusterfuck is making us more safe.

3. So he sold his soul for another star..
and probably a stake in the Carlyle Group. Pathetic, but typical.

4. I fault questioners, pundits, and journalists for not getting to the bottom of
Petraeus testimony. Would have been easy for someone to state that the WH has politicized all departments like no other administration in history (easy case to make: purges, justice, lobbyists in regulatory positions, OSP, Rove Hatch Act, etc etc) and we're afraid that the military has been politicized so as to be untrustworthy. ALL INDEPENDENT RESOURCES POINT TO WORSENING SITUATION IN IRAQ....the answer to why this conflicts with Petraeus is abuse of power and politicization by the WH and this story has to be told.

Petraeus was picked to do this job precisely because he could be counted on to provide a report of this kind.

5. Someone else posted that our collective panties get sticky
at the sight of a man in uniform, like Ollie North.

The lack of critical analysis of Petraeus is likely a similar phenomena.
