I think Republicans just lost the Whitehouse

Bush got his way and created just enough momentum (from lies) to continue the surge for another year likely leading to the loss of thousands of more lives for nothing. In my opinion this is one of the sadest moments in our countries history.

So what I believe will occur down the road is a breaking point when Republicans realize talk of staying in Iraq is going to lose them the election. Currently they are holding onto a pipe dream and the Republican base really is stupid enough to think things are turning around and we are going to win and Bush will be labeled the greatest president ever. This pipe dream will last only so long as the Presidential election nears and they realize they are going to lose if they continue to hold onto their pipe dream. When that breaking point occurs there will be all kinds of confusion and infighting within the Republican party and a mass exodus to turn against the war and Bush. But it will be too late.

Of course Republicans will try to spin things as though things are so great that they are drawing down troops but I don't think the American people will buy this.

Bush just boxed in all the Republican candidates accept Ron Paul. He just screwed our military, our country and the Republican party.

Of course, we should NEVER underestimate them. Who knows what they have in their dirty bag of tricks and how skilled they might be at convincing the American people that Iraq is turning into a paradise no matter how grim the facts are.

I mean, I can't believe a Democrat didn't win by a landslide in 2004 (or in 2000, for that matter), but no, the race was so close that it enabled the Republicans to steal the damn thing.

and sure, the Dems won big (actually, not that big in the Senate) in 06 but they seem to be squandering any advantage they might have gained, so, I'm skeptical of there being a sure-fire win in 08 of a Democrat in the presidential race.

Frankly, I didn't spend much time on politics while Clinton was president, but was the media biased towards Dems in those days? Because these days, the media, I believe, has enabled the Republicans to win the power that they have today. So, with media attacking Democrats and the Democrats themselves fucking up, I think the presidential race is still up for grabs.

These constant displays of timidity and triangulation turn off so many voters. If we ever were to nominate a real, fire-breathing progressive, I think the Democrats would be shocked at how many new voters would turn out for them.

they're going to lose the election by supporting this illegal invasion and they just don't care. Why? I think their agenda is to have another attack, declare Martial Law, suspend the election and voilà, the Dictator is then in place.

It's either that, or KKKRove is out setting up evoting machines to steal another election. It's the only way they can win and they know it.

I'm getting kinda tired of the lack of knowledge about parliamentary governments around here. What Putin did is perfectly normal, people. Spoke to my friend in St.Petersburg today. She's not worried in the least, because this happens before every election. It happened 4 times under Yeltsin. Sometimes, there is no evil conspiracy.
