How many feel we will be in Iraq for a long time to come ?
With all the permanent bases already there and all the money and time spend on just these efforts I have a very difficult time believing the US will be out anytime soon . Beside this the main reason we went in there was for the oil which is another resource this admin is not likey to let go .

Even with all the speculation on Iran and everything else I still feel we are in Iraq for a long time to come . They have spend decades to get to this point and lied to us all the way there .

No one really has any solution for Iraq in the state it is in now .

I also have to wonder how the talk about cutting funding will go , I do believe if funding is cut bush will leave the troops out there with nothing after all look at how the troops are treated once they get home damaged and war torn .

As you know bush will give his speach of lies tonight and there is much speculation how this will turn out . I don't expect anything to change at all .

1. I think *'s intentions are to be there a LONG time.....especially with
the news a bit ago that he wants permanent bases.....like we didn't know.

2. I've believed since the IraqAttaq was launched. . .
we'd be there until this clusterph@#k rips this nation apart. We're still together, so there's more troubles yet to come.

3. Not now that he's admitted it
I predict major peeling off of Rethugs -- with this news, we'll soon have veto-proof majorities on all issues involving Iraq. He can put the pen away.

5. Tweety says bush will call for a presence like in Korea.
That is just what the PNAC wanted.

6. The end will be sudden and surprising
but just like the USSR and Rome, we are now on our way to a fall

I said it on another post, but now I am sure this country will not survive its meeting with history... and will break up into anywhere from three to five nations...

It will not be pretty...

But no, we will not be there for ever... but Bush has set us now firmly on the way to fail as a nation

8. US presence will be in Iraq for many decades.
The Dems have found a way now to keep the US Occupation
going. That is what they wanted all along. They voiced the opposite just to garner votes for '06. Dems will still pretend to be in favor of US Draw Down from Iraq to garner a majority in the Senate & the Pres. for '09 all the while keeping the US Occupation active. There is no way that Repugs or Dems are going to allow Iraq's oil to be controlled by "Terrorists" or anyone else. The US Govt. will control that oil flow & the US Occupation shall continue for decades in one form or another. Americans are being gamed by both Repugs & Dems.

The Repugs are imploding. With a few more scandals, esp. of the sexual nature, the Repugs will be viewed as perverts. The Dems are gambling on the notion that most Americans will favor Dems because the Repugs are losers & pervs. The US Occupation may draw down a bit but in no way will there be all out draw down. There is way too much to lose for America in the ME to pack up and allow Iran to be top dog in the ME.

9.  The main problem with most politicians is .
The run a campaign on certain issues and make all sorts of promises but once they get into office the entire song changes . This is the problem I have with most of the presidential candidates , after all the big corps and the military industrial complex control the government .

This is the part may seem to not understand . Even bush is a puppet as was Reagan . We as citizens only know what they want us to know and this is not much .

10. true of some Dems
not true of others. Unfortunately, we do not have a population that can discern the differences.

7. Yes, I'm guessing forever. It's all about oil after all.
If we are under the suspicion that oil will last a few more years, then even Democrats will not pull out, IMO. Right now it's about oil companies wanting to make a profit, but as we see our survival being threatened, most politicians will choose to stay thinking that will enable us to steal the last remaining years worth.
