1. It's far better than one that would merely be ignored.
 "Polite" doesn't get anyone's attention.

3. I thought it was simply good, until I started reading and hearing
about how furious the Republics are. I mean they're going ape shit.

So now I've elevated my feelings to love it.

4. Other - I think it was nonproductive.
For $70,000 they could have made a strong case against the war and left the Republicans speechless. Instead, it's their new talking point. At the very least, the ad should have indicated that "General Betrayus" started with the general's own troops, not the civilian population.

10. It's only red meat to their base
But it creates doubt in peoples minds that this General is being honest. Since most Americans didn't believe the report in the first place it will just help reinforce what they were already thinking.

It's a catch phrase and a most effective one. Most people won't even watch the hearings but they will hear that catch phrase.

6. The reason Republicans are trying to attack it is because they fear it
As the days pass people will remember this general's name as "Betray Us" and it will create just enough doubt that it will cause major damage to their message.

7. Petraeus took an oath to preserve, protect & defend the Constitution.
Not to serve as Praetor to enforce the will of Emperor Bush.

8. A fine example of "Freedom of speech".
Ya know....that thing we used to have in America. I love how the media has spun it though. God forbid we should criticize a General in the military. They are like Gods and would NEVER tell us lies. Yeah. Right. That is why Patreaus or Crocker were not put under oath for the hearings this week.

a poor strategic move. "It's the frame, stupid"

18. I'm glad you asked. I've been thinking quite a bit about that.
I now understand that they had no choice about what day it ran, so I think what I would have done is run the picture of Petraeus and added a devastating Iraqi shot. I thought the text of the MoveON ad was fine for the most part, but I would probably have opened the ad with something like:

"General Patraeus, Don't Give Us More of The Administration;s Happy Talk. Everyone now knows it's false."

11. A great way to get the campaigns to show their colors.
You know those big yellow stripes down the middle of their backs. They'll be plainly visible as all the phony leftists will be running hard to the right.

12. Petraeus is "fair game"
Those fuckers outed a CIA agent. Now what is worse? Us questioning a generals integrity which could effect our whole country or the Republicans outing a CIA agent working to track WMD's?

Come on people wake up and attack back!

:eyes:

That said, the members paid for it and they have every right to publish it, as did the NYT.
