Ted Koppel made a great point - Everyone Loves a Sale
I have not seen any comment about this anywhere, but I heard Ted Koppel make this point on the radio the other day. Bush surges troops (inflates price) Bush reduces troops ( to pre-inflated number) America thinks they got a good buy, but really they just got regular old retail - no real reduction. Aren't we better shoppers than this?

3. Half of america is stupid enough to buy this bait and switch
They have been buying at Wal-Mart all these years thinking they were getting something on sale because Wal-Mart put it in an ad.

4. Mark it up in order to mark it down.
That is what Bush's "reduction" of troops amounts to. Dems need to call him on it. I think Koppel's framing is perfect.
