Airline apologizes to passenger, lowers fares to "match her mini-skirt"
:)

Southwest Airlines Issues an Apology and Lowers Fares to Match Now Infamous Mini Skirt

DALLAS, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In classic Southwest Airlines flair, CEO Gary Kelly today made a public apology to one of its Customers whose trip several months ago has become the subject of recent television and newspaper commentary. Company President Colleen Barrett has reached out to the Customer directly, and Kelly issued Kyla Ebbert an apology and invitation to again fly on Southwest as she taped a television show.

"From a Company who really loves PR, touche to you Kyla! Some have said we've gone from wearing our famous hot pants to having hot flashes at Southwest, but nothing could be further from the truth. As we both know, this story has great legs, but the true issue here is that you are a valued Customer, and you did not get an adequate apology. Kyla, we could have handled this better, and on behalf of Southwest Airlines, I am truly sorry. We hope you continue to fly Southwest Airlines. Our Company is based on freedom even if our actions may have not appeared that way. It was never our intention to treat you unfairly and again, we apologize."

Kelly took an additional step and is sharing his direct comments about the incident by recording ads for national radio. Those comments detail a national fare sale launched today featuring "mini-skirt" fares...

2. Well, I'm glad to see Southwest is owning up,
and I have to confess I wouldn't mind getting another look at Kyla in her mini-skirt in those new ads. ;-)

6. Good for them.
Screw the uptight control freaks and sex-hating ninnies who melt like the wicked witch of the west at the threat of anything sexy.

30. Wonder what happened to that
person who told Kayla "where to get off and why"?

He seemed like a power-tripper and then the Prez of SW got a hold of this and goes.."WHOA! Wait just a cotton frickin' moment!"

10. I have seen people flying in SHORTS..and even a guy one time
who was wearing those clingy bicycle shorts.. talk about a lunch-loser..The last thing most people want to see is some guy's package being restrained by shiny spandex..

I find it extremely ironic that we have gone from "Hi, I'm Cheryl, Fly me" and hot pants worn by the staff, to "cover up & let Momma measure your skirt length", in such a short time..

Old timers like me can remember how things used to be.. One airline used to use very sexy flight attendants ("Stews") and have them purr "I'm gonna fly you, like you've never been flown before"..

and once on a flight from Miami to Jamaica, the stewardesses had a bikini & island wear fashion show as they served coffee & sandwiches..

26. i think a guy in spandex shorts would be MUCH worse
than anything else. i can just imagine being on the aisle seat and him trying to stuff luggage in the bin above me... his "restrained package" would be RIGHT IN MY FACE!! i'm a woman and i would way rather see some other woman's thong than some junk in spandex inches from my face...

i think i will be having nightmares tonight.

31. And I remember when we as
passengers dressed all up in hose and gloves practically.. betting on safe flight! B-)

I don't fly so much anymore..the last time in 2004 but I'll be making the long trip to Kauai in 2010 so I'm keeping up on the reading via DU.

12. Same old story
1. Hot chick capitalizes on unfortunate situation to get her 15 minutes of fame.
2. Agile company sees PR benefits and makes some sweet lemonade out of their lemons.

Only thing I don't understand is - Why is this not the lead story on CNN?!?!

Methinks she is getting exactly what she wanted out of the deal.

27. You almost make it sound as if she was asking for it...
She was wronged and the airline did what was right by apologizing...

36. Not surprised. I have to admit though, that before my first flight on an airliner-
My parents bought me a new suit. We were flying on a 747 in '69 or '70. I think they still have it. Add: It's the ONLY suit I've ever owned.

17. Highly unlikely, just classic Southwest Airlines imho.
One supervisor made an iffy judgment call and the company is making lemonade out of the lemons.

Yeah, I thought so. I'm not a chick, but if I felt like wearing a fucking mini-skirt, then my ass ought to be able to. You may not like it, you may think it looks bad, but in no way should that prevent a person from being served as a customer.
