Now this was interesting. I was ensconced in the basement of the CodePINK house hand coding the Bye Bye Gonzo going away party blog post when a ruckus erupted out front on the sidewalk. Seems a visit was being made by some pro-military types who were expressing their contempt of the CodePINK ladies' peaceful message. Some of the gals were a little ruffled by this appearance and others went outside for an "open meaningful discussion of views". I paid little attention as the situation didn't seem overtly threatening and I sent the wife, Mrs. Cactus, out to take a couple photos and went back to the tedium of preparing a blog post with eleven embedded photos.

Around the time I was making real progress, CodePINK friend Lydia comes in and suggests the pro-military group needs to see some "MEN" come out of the house to show them its not just women in the group. So I figure, what the hey?, and mosey out to take measure of the goings-on...

I was immediately confronted by whom I took to be the group silver-back, who explained their position and intent to disrupt the Sept. 15th Protest and Die-In and how they wanted to stop by and discuss in person their feelings in addition to the planned counter-demo disruptions on Saturday. I commented that it was mighty neighborly of them to drop by for an exchange of ideas.

At this point he focussed on my Stumpknockers T-shirt, a local watering-hole in Inverness FL, and told me it wasn't the real Stumpknockers, the real one was outside town on the banks of the Withlacoocheee River. I assented as much and explained we had been in town for our daughter's wedding a couple yrs. earlier. He then told me he lived six miles outside of town and invited me to come on down to do some "shooting".

Hmmm, this was getting interestin', and I considered the implications of this invite for a second or two. As I see it this was either an attempt to impugn my manhood for associating with such a group of commie PINKO liberal women-folk like CodePINK, or it was a veiled message that perhaps he'd like to blow my brains out.

Not as serious as the message these people are trying to stop CodePink from telling the country, but you know what I mean.

What right do they have to tell someone they can't protest a monster who stole the white house's maniacal views. They come to CodePink and GIVE their views, while telling you, that you can't express yours. I don't understand republicans, I never will, they think their beliefs, their ideas are the ones everybody should have. Free speech to them is OK as long as it is the same as theirs.
