General Clark's Endorsement of Sen. Hillary Clinton
'I am a strong supporter of Senator Chris Dodd's campaign for the Presidency. I think the leadership he is demonstrating as Senator now, especially on Iraq, is evidence of the type of leadership he would provide as President. But I would be hard pressed not to be a supporter of General Wes Clark if he were in the race. I strongly supported General Clark in the 2004 race and I lament that he is not our President now. On foreign policy and military issues, there is no one I trust more than General Clark.

So General Clark's endorsement of Senator Hillary Clinton this morning does have an effect on me. The main effect is it makes me want to know the role General Clark would play in a Clinton Administration. If he were to have a leading role on national security and foreign policy issues, there is no question I would be much more favorable to the Clinton candidacy. Will he? As Jeralyn notes, Jerome Armstrong queried on whether General Clark might be Senator Clinton's running mate and not surprisingly, General Clark demurred. But the Clinton campaign can give us an idea of whether and what General Clark's role might be in a Clinton Administration and I would urge them to tell us more about that. More.'

3. If I was the one that got to chose I would poick Clark as Sec of Defense and Dodd
as Sec of State, Obama as Vice-President. Except for the loss of Senate seats that would create I think it would be a fine start to a cabinet.

4. I was/am an ardent Clark supporter. Clark or no-Clark on Hillary's team- she'd still allow NeoCons
to get away with murder and sweep their crimes under the rug.

Afer all, she touts her "experience" during the Clinton years. And since that's what we have to go by, there's no question she'd do what her husband did regarding Iran/Contra and BCCI.

And my fear with Edwards and Obama is the same. Neither of those candidates are likely to take on the NeoCons and expose them utterly.

Senator Dodd and Biden are the two most likely to encourage full investigations and prosecuctions.

5. I like Clark. But nobody's endorsement will have much influence on my decision.
There is an old rule in politics: voters rarely are influenced by the recommendations of someone they like. On the other hand, they are very likely to be swayed against someone who gets a recommendation from someone they dislike.

Think about it. If Jimmy Carter or Al Gore were to say he was going to vote for this candidate or that, would you necessarily fall in behind him?

On the other hand, if Newt Gingrich or Rush Limbaugh were to enthusiastically come out for one of our people, wouldn't it give you second thoughts, even if you had already chosen that person as your candidate?
