Greenspan clarifies "the Iraq War was largely about oil" ... You're gonna LOVE this!!!
Edited on Mon Sep-17-07 06:33 AM by Roland99
Greenspan was just interviewed by Matt Lauer on NBC Today.

He said, re: the war being about oil was that Saddam wanted nukes to eventually take control of the Straits of Hormuz and cause oil prices to skyrocket, reaching near $130/bbl and that it was a good thing that Saddam was taken out. (and he also mentioned something about moving thru Saudi and Kuwait to accomplish that).

Uhhh....and how was he going to do that? Sounds like Greenspan was buying the BS supplied by the neocons' criminals (Chalabi and his INC liars) and the unvetted intel stovepiped by the OSP.

He came off as quite equivocating in that interview this morning.

3. For A Truly Smart Man That Was The Dumbest Thing I Ever Heard
Ask any economist, be he left, right, or center and they will tell you that $10.00 a barrel oil is more likely than $130.00 a barely oil; demand would collapse before it reached that point, driving the price back down...

7. Someone reminded Greenspan that "Invasion for Oil" = War Crimes....
Officially, the insulting rationalizations MUST go on or a whole lot of people are going to The Hague.

8. Yep - ANYONE who knew there were no WMDs for certain deserves jail.
Those keeping that secret and who convinced lawmakers that WMDs was a reality all belong in jail, not in our government. That goes for Reublicans AND Democrats who claimed special access to information and used their positions to convince lawmakers with LESS access to the intel.

9. While over on NPR, the foundation for discrediting Greenspan was laid.
Edited on Mon Sep-17-07 08:12 AM by MH1
Listening to NPR this morning they started talking about how the current housing crisis really is somehow Greenspan's fault. I don't understand this stuff so perhaps there is some merit, but I guess it is a reflection of my cynicism that my first thought was "the discrediting has begun" because he has started speaking out against the Bushies and wingers.

12. He added more in an interview on CNBC with Maria Bartiromo
Edited on Mon Sep-17-07 12:24 PM by Roland99
He added that he "believed Saddam did have weapons of mass destruction".

Too bad no one has asked him why oil has risen 100% since the Iraq invasion and shows no signs of slowing down (hit an intraday high today at $80.50)
