Iraqis Round on Blackwater 'Dogs' After Shooting

Baghdad — Hated by Iraqis who refer to them as "Mossad," Blackwater contractors are also mistrusted by fellow private security guards operating in Iraq who say they are arrogant, rude and dangerous.

"They kill innocent people in the street," Hameed Hussein, a pensioner in west Baghdad's Al-Maamoun neighbourhood said on Tuesday, two days after guards from the US security firm opened fire on civilians, killing 10 people and wounding 13.

"Where else in the world does this happen?" asked 60-year-old Hussein. "These are not security forces but rather forces to kill Iraqis. They are frenzied dogs."

1. K&R
I thought mercenary armies were illegal. Oh well, yet another law that "does not apply" when they decide it doesn't.

3. The Iraqis could even start their own Blackwater season
you know like the trout fishing or deer hunting season with licences issued and rules laid down for minimum size etc.

11. yes, indeed
The ouster of Blackwater may ironically provide a unifying rallying point among the occupied.

6. Why did Maliki and crew change their stand on revoking
Blackwater's license? My guess: Maliki was given $ & a threat. The carrot & the stick. Revoking the license would have opened up scrutiny on the other Merc Corps. which is big business.

The US Military doesn't have qualified personnel to handle the job?

Special Forces
Seals
Delta Force

8. I want them to go on trial for what they did, not hide behind a wall and be
protected by my country.

10. Indeed, there should be a trial

Iraqi government spokesman Ali Dabbagh insisted Tuesday that Blackwater guards should be held accountable for Sunday's killings, which took place while the security detail was assigned to protect a State Department motorcade.

"They should not have immunity for their mistakes," Dabbagh said. "If they have made a mistake, they should be subjected to the law."

12. Not surprised.
A crowd of civilians doesn't pull mercenaries out of vehicles, burn their bodies, and then hang their charred corpes from bridges on a whim.

13. The story behind that would be very interesting, too, besides the
fact that Blackwater didn't arm them sufficiently...but that's what I read-don't know how true it is.

14. Oh I doubt they weren't armed sufficiently.
At the same time, there were reports blackwater was testing blended metal bullets.
