I used to think I knew right from wrong - I thought so -

For better than 200 years of our history - I thought so.
I still do - last few years or not.
Better or worse - we probably are the last best hope of civilization - in the western sense.
Take that away from us in our dead cold hands - if you dare.
Maybe we approach some day of reckoning - maybe.
When that day happens - we stand with all those who came before us - and we shout into eternity - Fu - k you - we are the United states!! You go to hell.
Tell me. You know what dieing means - sometimes very slowly - all my life I saw it happen. Tell me what you know??? I went to the funerals of the suicides from the last war -I was 6 years old - so you tell me what you know of that which happens when you abandon the carnal - I want to know - what did I miss???
I'm not going to respond any further because I don't accept the basic premise of your post. The US didn't save anything in 1945 and has exploited the event in the intervening 60 years to steal, rape and murder anyone who stands in the way of "American Interests".
9. I don't live in your country so why would I describe it as mine?
You do make a valid point. It is important to remember and acknowledge those who gave their lives.
It's also important to acknowledge those whose lives were taken from them. The millions of people around the world who have suffered and died as a result of US foreign policy. Millions who were murdered so US corporations could exploit their economy, for profit.
