Poll question: If you were an editor of a major newspaper,
Edited on Thu Sep-20-07 12:53 PM by kgfnally
and a group whom you know has been censured/officially condemned by Congress came to you to buy a full-page ad criticizing Government Person X, would you be inclined to publish their ad "as is", would you make suggestions of "toning it down", or would you simply not publish the ad, for fear of losing readers?

(Keep in mind- this is not "you as a DU member", this is "you as a major newspaper editor", and considering all the factors that position requires you to consider.)

Please explain why, if you're so inclined.

edit: choice #2 was incomplete for some reason

1. I have no idea what it's like to live in that rarified world and deal with
polonium and anthrax threats from powerbrokers.

2. I voted yes, but I'm not an editor
I personally don't see any of the MSM papers doing it. Hell, why STOP censuring free speech after a six year track record?

3. Newspaper editors have nothing to do with advertising
Only in rare cases where the editor is also the publisher would he/she have a say in an advertising matter, including where in the newspaper the ad is placed.

4. No vote, Your premise implies that the editor has a choice, which is not the case,
unless the editor is tired of collecting that paycheck.
