Oil Rises Above $83 as Gulf of Mexico Storm Brews

Oil surged over $83 per barrel on Thursday in the seventh straight record-breaking session as companies shut Gulf of Mexico output on forecasts a tropical depression churning through the region would become a storm.

1. It actually popped to $84 around 2:30 and closed at $83.32, up 1.39
They are playing this storm forming in the gulf as some oil/gas platforms are being shutdown.

Falling dollar pushed it above the $80bbl earlier in the week.

2. As long as they don't raise the price of gas.
Gas around here (SW Ohio) has declined $.30 in the past couple of weeks while the price of oil has skyrocketed. Don't ask me how or why. I thought gas prices were going to go up as soon as the price of oil started rising. If big oil has to pay more to Saudi Arabia and Venezuela for the oil, at least they have had their profits squeezed for a couple of weeks. I am sure they will be coming after my wallet soon.
