What's that smell?

Democracy is a reeking corpse on the front lawn of America, killed through the abuse and neglect of those who damn well should have known better. I blame the Republicans, sure, but that's easy. They're a bunch of self-serving would-be aristocrats that would like nothing more than to dismantle the Constitutional protections of anyone they think doesn't live up to their standards...non-white, non-christian, not wealthy. Take your pick.

The Republicans have abused Democracy. The Dems have seemingly neglected it. It's been a big dog chained in the front yard with inadequate nourishment for the past thirty years, let loose on occasion to terrorize the neighborhood, then kicked and beaten when it comes slinking home.

Democracy is about THE PEOPLE! The government is supposed to represent US, not special interests, not the corporations (artificial people, anyone?), and NOT the twisted ideology of the Republicans--those who hold the belief that the only voices that matter are the ones that agree with them.

We don't like what they have to say, but, at least, we don't dispute their right to say it. We may mock them for being clueless assholes, but we've never tried to shut them up. Of course, stuffing a ball gag in Coulter's mouth and shoving her in a dank cellar somewhere would be a vast improvement, but some things are just impossible.

It's time to buy a new dog and train it right this time. And feed and water the damned thing.
