Make that U.S. or us. or pretty much everyone who has a brain and does not work inside the belt way.
A huge majority of us want out of Iraq Nam. That doesn't seem to matter much, not to the corporations that own the media outlets of this country. The pundits still talk about, and give preference to, The Talking Head Neocons (Gaffney, Perle, and everyone from Heritage and AIPAC) , retired pro-occupation military (too many to mention, and "experts" like Brooks, Broder, and other apologists for the war, supporters of bush, and kool-aid drinkers who think the surge is a success.
The MoveOn fiasco is a great example of this battle. On one side, the general population, normal, straightforward people who simply want peace and to have a job, a home and decent health care. On the other, MSM, which sees its control over the business of politics fading with every new blog, their talking heads, the experts pushed upon them by their corporate masters, and the designers of this ridiculous war on terra.
The battle lines were drawn, the ad was made. KaBOOM! MSM went on its attack. It marshalled its forces, it lined up its senat-hores, it got the talking heads to proclaim, repeatedly and on every conceivable outlet, that the Democrats were screwn. WE fucked up. We Lost. We made a huge mistake. We were in serious trouble.
And then, something magical happened. Reality broke through. All the lies, all the PR, all the bull from the MSM turned out to be wrong. Very wrong. MoveOn did not implode. The progressive movement did not stick its tail between its legs and collapse like the Democratic leadership in Congress. The liberals did not whimper at the threat, and roll over like a dead log. No, we stood up, one by one, 20,000 of us, and opened our wallets and supported free speech. WE SUPPORTED OUR constitution, in the face of the most active, disgusting campaign, since the run up to the invasion of Iraq.
I suspect that the democrats in office are taking notice and learning from us. I also suspect that the MSM and the neocon pundits are approaching their wits' end. They see this as a battle they cannot lose, or else. If they don't beat us down, they forever lose their power and control over America, and that failure will be the bitterest pill ever in the history of this country.
the netroots are standing up. and standing up to corruption, il-gotten gains, and a corroded MSM that lost its way. They will find a new choice facing them: either they wither away, or they follow our lead. There is no middle ground.
