Analysis: Bush Unwelcome on the Trail
By LIZ SIDOTI – 8 hours ago

MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. (AP) — Republican presidential candidates can't be any more clear: President Bush isn't welcome on the campaign trail ...

How candidates handle the 800-pound elephant in the room now could have implications beyond the primary. Privately, Republican strategists agree their nominee will lose next fall if the general election is a referendum on Bush. They say GOP candidates are wise to distance themselves from the president now, given his unpopularity among the public at large.

Bush holds the opposite view.

Asked last week whether he is an asset or a liability for Republican candidates, Bush replied: "Strong asset." ...

1. I saw the clip of that question on KO last week...
Even Bush seemed to know that his answer was a joke.

I still hope he insists on campaigning for Republicans. "No, really, sir, don't trouble yourself, we'll be fine...."

2. Heh heh...
Let's just hope that he doesn't actually realize the liability he is, and that he pushes his way where he's not wanted (his own arrogance almost guarantees this) and proceeds to "help" them in much the same way as an albatross helps a sailor while hanging around his neck.

He IS this clueless, I'm sure, and would be highly offended and actually actively work against someone who didn't accept his help.

Pretty soon, the Repugs will be cursing his name. They just don't know it yet.
