Take the Worldview Test to see how christian you are!
Go to http://www.worldviewweekend.com/test/register.php. You will have to register but you can do so with an alias so the fundies won't be able to find you. :)

Don't forget to tell us all how well you did! Out of a possible 107 points I scored a -6!

On the other hand, my mother believes that she is going to go to hell 'cuz I don't go to church. Ahhh, ya gotta love that good old Catholic guilt...

but not too positive. She is actually pretty liberal in most things. She just has a hard time with me and the church thing.

70. I had to go to church all the time as a kid
Sunday morning and evening, Wednesday's prayer meeting (after a dinner of fried liver, collard greens, homoniny (sp), and rice pudding...retch). Not to mention "devotions" every morning and night...so I've got enough chruch going to last me for a good long time. Now I only go if it's a wedding or funeral. I will not go to church, I will not go Sam I Am.

Your classification is: Communist/Marxist/Socialist/Secular Humanist Worldview Thinker. Whaddaya expect from a Canadian?

This test has too many bogus questions, like the "money is the root of all evil" one. That's not what the Bible says, and if these people think it DOES say that, their ignorance really precludes their running a quiz like this in the first place. There are plenty of other questions like this.

35. Ugh, what crap.
It's got questions like this:
"Individual freedoms would be advanced and protected under a one-world government under United Nations authority. Strongly agree, tend to agree, no opinion, tend to disagree or strongly disagree?"

Ah, they only get worse from there on out. Did the person who wrote these questions even graduate high school?

Anyway, I answered "no opinion" on questions that I rejected the premise of, which was almost half of them, and I got a -64 of 170, -37%.

All it does is try and see how much of a rightwing evangelical you are, nothing more. There are plenty of religious people, Christian even, of mainstream (Orthodox, Catholic, Lutheran) denominations that would take issue with many of the questions.

55. Just an example
When it asks if you agree that if there is a conflict between the Bible and what a scientist says, the scientist must be wrong... this kind of thinking is an example of fundamentalism. A mainstream Protestant or Catholic would, in that circumstance, would say ones understanding of the Bible is wrong.

Some of those questions were damn near impossible to answer for me.

Jesus died on the cross but did not raise from the dead.
If I disagree, I am saying I buy the resurrection myth.
If I agree, I am saying I believe there was a Jesus that dies on the cross.
Zoinks. There were about 5-6 of those.

73. There's a good Sociology of Religion Thesis there...
No Opinion is NOT allowed in religious issues... it's worse than having the wrong opinion.

And folks wonder why I scoff

80. What I found interesting as a staunch Atheist.

Is that my highest score was in the Religion section. It really demonstrates their complete ignorance on what Atheism means. A couple of examples:

"Is truth invented by man or discovered by man?"
"Do all opinions hold equal value?"

Sad how many religious people actually think that Atheists (or secular humanists) do not believe in right and wrong. Reminds me of so many Americans who are liberal on 90+% of the issues, but who claim to be conservative because they have some propagandistic view of liberal (and no idea what conservative means except that it isn't that bad stuff they were told liberals believe).

74. I'm seriously disappointed in my score - a mere -15
Still it does put me in the "Communist/Marxist/Socialist/Secular Humanist Worldview Thinker", so that's some comfort.

Maybe registering as "Richard Beninya" had something to do with my totals . . .

77. I got a minus 36
sheesh, what a bunch of nut cases. Using the bible to justify being rich and intolerant. Sure doesn't fit with my world view.

And Christians wonder why they get a bad rap. They don't need religion, they've got the GOP to worship. Same principles bind them.

78. Haha, I love the George W. Bush is the President of America question
Edited on Tue Sep-25-07 05:53 PM by sleebarker
I, of course, strongly disagreed.

Hmm. What do I do with "All religions are equally true."? Why isn't there an option for "All religions are equally whacked"?

Err - anyone else scared by all the questions intimating that freedom and democracy are bad bad things? And how it was all like, "Yay ignorance!"? Their denial of scientific and historic facts is breathtaking.

"A God given responsibility of government is to protect the righteous and punish the wicked."

That, quite frankly, is terrifying.

OMG! "When you study the Bible as a whole, it becomes clear that God is very supportive of an economic system that is based on private property, the work ethic, and personal responsibility."

I scored -75, so I guess I'm a Communist/Marxist/Socialist/Secular Humanist Worldview Thinker.

I've been researching moral development and stuff lately, and yeah - at best whoever made this test was at the absolute law and order stage. Which is actually supposedly one of the higher stages. Sigh.

81. I scored - 60!
Apparently, my worldview is Communist/Marxist/Socialist/Secular Humanist Worldview Thinker. I love the way these are all lumped together!

I *am* in fact a secular humanist, so it's not surprising that I don't have a Biblical Worldview. What is really worrying is that apparently having a Biblical Worldview means supporting a flat tax, war, capital punishment, and opposing egalitarian economic policies. When did God send down the commandment "Thou Shalt Vote Republican"?

And what about "George Bush is president of the United States". I mean, he *is*, even if one hates his guts and thinks he wasn't duly elected. What has that got to do with 'worldview'. And if Hillary Clinton or someone else whom they hate becomes president, will they change the question to refer to that president?
