1. Makes you wonder why they are "leading"
There are Dem candidates that want us out of Iraq, have a plan to do so, and have a time table set for it. If so many Americans want out of the war, why are the "leading" candidates leading?

3. Why should we think all war-profiting corporation$ sending them
$$$$$$$$ will be ignored by the DLC candidates once they get the nomination (and by any "glitch luck" afterward, the presidency)?

Public funding is off the radar...

10. His next pronouncement- "All out in one day"

Richardson's Changing Position On Residual Troops

NOW: Richardson Commercial Touts Plan to Pull "Every Single Soldier" Out of Iraq. In his most recent television commercial, Gov. Richardson says he has "the only plan that pulls every single soldier out of Iraq." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smOo1r2XPVY>

FIVE MONTHS AGO: April 2007: Leave Troops to "Protect American Institutions." Discussing his plan to withdraw troops from Iraq, Richardson said, "I would not put them in Iraq, I believe I would leave Marine forces to protect our embassy and other vital American installations."

DECEMBER 2006: Richardson Said Withdrawal Includes A Residual Force. Gov. Richardson said, "No, I'm talking about a fixed withdrawal date. I'm talking about a sizable withdrawal with perhaps a residual force-a very small residual force. But I think you have to fix the date, and you do it consulting with our military commanders, with the Iraqi government-and this is not ‘cut and run'-what I'm proposing is something that I believe will work, a fixed withdrawal date."

OCTOBER 2006: Richardson: Must Leave A Residual Force. Richardson said, "You negotiate this timetable that is also, I think, responsibly supporting and representing our security interests in the region and not just leaving without some kind of residual force or some transition force."

11. Right!

So he should just stick with his original plan,
even though he knows now that there are better alternatives?

That's what GW does, and has been doing since he's
been in office. How well does that work?

Btw, quotation marks are used for actual quotes.

6. If someone is going to criticize them for not committing to it, then
they are going to have to present us with their own plan for getting us out of Iraq.

What's fair's fair.

8. It is easy, just start packing them up like we eventually did in Viet Nam
It isn't that difficult

Iraq isn't OUR COUNTRY. They are in a civil war, and they want us out. Let the Iraqiis determine their own destiny. We have done enough damage to Iraq and the region

9. Breaking up is so hard to do.........
Leaving seems to be getting more & more complicated. I noticed that a principal in Qatar asked the U.N. to get involved in the situation in Iraq because it was becoming too difficult for one nation (ie.the U.S.) to handle it. And Qatar is where our main Middle Eastern staging ground is for the Iraq War, isn't it? I also saw where the Saudi Arabians (who everyone knows always tries to play varying sides against each other to obtain the best deal for themselves) were warning about the disaster that a U.S. pullout now would create. The Bush Administration (who finally admitted recently that it hopes to establish a permanent contingent of U.S. military in Iraq) has totally lost credibility with most of the rest of the world and I don't think we'll get any help at all from the U.N. or anyone else in Iraq until this toxic administration has left office.
