For those of you who doubt Ed Schultz...
He stated directly today that LIEberman is a traitor, referring to him as "turncoat-lieberman".

HE HAS ABSOLUTELY NO USE FOR LIEberman or any of the other crap the LIEberman spews.

1. Most FR members hate Lieberman too. That doesn't make them liberals. nm

5. That really wasn't the point I was trying to get across.
There have been people here saying that since Big Ed will not repudiate Lieberman, then he's not a lefty.

It just seems a bit :wtf: to me.

9. OIC. I wasn't aware anyone was saying Lieberman was a litmus test for Schultz.
I listened to him for a week once, and concluded that he disliked
Repubs LESS than he disliked Leftie Dems.

So my dislike of him is independent of his opinion of Holy Joe.

12. And yet, he donated $100. to Moveon.org based on their recent ad
He must be warming up to Leftie Dems a lot.

19. Strange you got that feeling after listening to him.
Based on most of his comments: pro-union, pro-impeachment, anti-war, pro-Murtha, etc.

20. Oh, he SAID all the right things. He just didn't come across like he really BELIEVED them.
I really got the vibe that he was just playing a role;
that he saw an empty market niche as a "Dem Limbaugh"
and had squeezed into it. He never made me feel like
his heart was really in it.

2. I've never understood the Ed-bashing
Admittedly, I don't listen all that often or all that much, so I could have just missed the parts that people here objected to, but ever since his show started I've never heard him be anything less than strongly pro-left.

4. That's becuse he is to the right of most of us
and does not get some of our pet peeves, such as the fairness doctrine

Though he is starting to turn on that too... he's starting to get it

6. I can't speak for all of Ed's views though:
He strongly supports unions and the american worker.

He is strongly against the Iraq war.

14. Yes, he does and in that sense he is very progressive
but in some others he is to the right of me and probably you.

He is center left, and since the center left today is to the right in nost countries...

And in a few of his views he is center right

Also people don't rrust him since he got funded in the begining by the party... and he's talked about it. The party is still dominated by the blue dogs... and in some aspects he is a blue dog

21. I truly dont recall that. He gave some of the most extensive & personal NOLA coverage I heard.
I truly dont recall that- is there anything you have to back that up? Even someone quoting him on a blog at the time or something.

26. Oh, for God's sake! Call me a liar because it was on a radio show!
Fuck, I'm so tired of this shit.

Believe what you want, and screw poor people.

I don't give a shit anymore.

I emailed him my anger about all that, and got ZIP as an answer.

Haven't enough poor people died yet to please you?

What the hell does it take?

started associating himself with Dems, but he is definitely starting to get it.

10. if he doesn't fit in with the ideological purity police,
then so much the better.
He's not perfect, but he's out there and has
crafted a successful vehicle that reaches people.
Go Ed!

...for voting with Lieberman to give Bush the stamp of approval he needs to invade Iran?

18. I like Big Edddie most of the time. He's not as bad as some say...
I dont agree with everything he says, and he leans DLC...

Is my memory correct when I say that he always supported Lamont? I honestly cant recall... I cant recall, but I do know that he has agreed with and supported Joe from time to time- no biggie.

But hey, if we can get at least ONE DLCer playing Judas to Joe, maybe we can get more of them to pretend they never used to like him. Fine by me.

22. Ed really isn't for us...
...he's for those independents or fence-sitters who're playing around with their radio dials, hear him talking about football or fishing and keep the station on. How many of his callers have said they thought he was like Rush, but continued to listen and came around to his way of thinking?

He's like the kiddie pool for those who're apolitical or disillusioned Repubs. They can dip a toe in the progressive waters without getting soaked and shocked. So he does serve a purpose.

We are far past Ed and most of his listeners when it comes to progressive issues. But since he's on when I drive home from work, I listen to his show sometimes. And he has AWESOME guests, that cannot be denied!

23. He does have awesome guests. Did you catch the Kucinich interview
a couple of weeks ago?

I love football and sports so that doesn't bother me either, and a lot of his listeners like fishing and hunting also!

Don't forget that we ARE supposed to be a "big tent" party.

We aren't his target audience. His target audience are moderates who he is trying to get to come to our side.
