Are the Dems playing politics with Iraq?
I know it's what the Republicans do. I know Bush has kicked the can down the road and doesn't care how many more Americans die. He and his party will keep accusing the Dems of "not supporting the troops" and get whatever funding they want. Half the Dems even voted to give Bush authority to go into Iran (And if you don't think that is exactly what they did, you are truly naive.)
So the Dems now are saying "we tried but the GOP stopped us, It's their war." Which may be true, but they haven't really tried.
I've heard some pundits say how it would be better for the Dems next November if the war was still going on. I'm not cynical enough to believe that the Dems would actually allow people to die for a political advantage (that's Bush's game). But with the namby-pamby behavior they have shown lately, it makes me wonder. And if they give Bush his extra 190 billion with no strings, I have to assume that at least a few Dems are doing just that.

What could they do? Bring in a bill that funds the troops only for withdrawal. Call it the "Fund our Troops Act". This is the only funding bill they allow. Have the Repubs filibuster or vote against funding the troops. Have the Pres. veto a bill to fund the troops.
This isn't Clinton versus Gingrich. Clinton had a 60% approval rating, Bush is at 30%.
But these half measures and wimpy opposition makes me wonder if they really want to end this war before next November.

1. * is sending instructions to Clinton about how to pick up the can
and cash it in for the deposit. Didn't you read about that the other day on DU. Trying the same thing with Obama.

Classified briefings about Iraq to them before the primaries are even accomplished.

Would sure seem that way.

3. Are the Dems playing politics with Iraq?
Hell yes - some of them - you said "I'm not cynical enough to believe that the Dems would actually allow people to die for a political advantage" well I am cynical enough to believe that some of them are - Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to mention two -

when they were in the minority we heard keeping our powder dry for the really important fight that never came

now they are in the majority and they are crying we don't have the votes - but THEY DO control the agenda - the repunks have been very successful in the minority ie - FISA, moveon resolution and this ridiculous Iran thing.

I believe there are only three reasons why the Dems have acted as they have the past nine months - suffering from battered wife syndrome - being threatened in some way - or they are IN ON IT

It is heart breaking and I'm losing hope....

10. I tried supporting the Dems,
and they told us they would stop this war. Tell me, what have they done? What am I suppose to support the Dems for? Another 18 months of funding this war at whatever level The Chimp wants. And if Hillary wins, years after that. Blind loyalty isn't a virtue.

6. Repulsive. ""we tried but the GOP stopped us, It's their war.""

It's their war? Absolutely repulsive. Listen, Democratic leaders elected in regret - those our are kids - children of Republicans and Democrats - and they are not going to get to vote again (or for the first time.) And you are demeaning them in all ways.

This is the worst thing I've heard in September and it takes a lot to top the horrible things that Republicans have said. What makes it worse, it that it is from Democrats?

How shameful. How shameful.

This country won't let citizens protest to stop killing and the Dems are enabling the Republicans to continue killing our kids and Iraqi kids.

Yes, shameful.
