Alicia Silverstone's PETA Ads Pulled, For all you vegan lovers out there!
Edited on Fri Oct-05-07 01:00 PM by Mountainman
Alicia Silverstone is too hot for TV – in Houston, that is.

The actress shed her clothes for a PETA ad championing vegetarianism set to debut in Texas Wednesday, but Comcast Cable pulled the 30-second spots from the airwaves.

In the commercial, Silverstone, 30, steps out of a swimming pool, unclothed and sharing the benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle.

I'm a vegetarian not a vegan but I agree with the ad and no I don't support everything PETA does.

3. Her "naked" body was just too shocking for those "pure" folks out there.
I saw the video, and she was very well covered where it counted. It was one what some might call "tasteful".
There is more flesh seen every night on the news, whenever there is a story about Britney Spears.

5. That was so weirdly non-sexual
Ms. Silverstone is very attractive, as that sort of thing goes, but what an odd choice.

26. Why is it "an odd choice"?
Alicia is a full-on Animal lover and fighter for their little rights!

31. Maybe I'm being too provincial
but she hasn't been in a major release in two years and most of her recent work has been brief appearances on television shows. Nothing wrong with that, and heaven knows I like her as much as I like any actor, but these kinds of ads like to use people who can quickly capture the public imagination. I don't think she's anywhere near that now.

32. I'm looking at it from another
angle..in that, Alicia is beautiful, healthy woman and she is a Vegetarian. Maybe this is her life more than acting..being an activist for animal rigths.

IMO, I don't think the purpose of the ad is going to have any problem with Alicia not capturing the public's imagination. I think she was born to do it.

It's not always about when or what your latest movie is, imo(again). :)

37. I agree.
She may not be in the news as frequently as, say, Britany Spears, but she seems a bit more thoughtful and well-grounded.

6. I've seen more risque ads than that touting cars, beer, and shampoo.
Silliness abounds with America's schizophrenia about sex.

9. PETA's use of pornified advertising to convey their message turned me off completely.
As an advocate of animal rights, I can't stand the fact that they do this shit.

I think they should pull ALL of that advertising.

34. Why do people not know the difference between nudity and pornography ?
Nudity = nakedness.
Pornography = sex acts.

I can be nude and not be porn.
I can be porn and not be nude (yes, you can commit sex acts clothed).

Get a clue.

36. I can't believe they're oppressing Alicia Silverstone like that.
They're probably giving her drugs to trick her into do that. There's no way a proper lady would choose to do it on her own.

I hate being screamed at, lectured to, and treated like a sewer rat. But that's a knock on PETA, not vegans.

Dr 92010 (? zip ) and The Girls Next Door leave very little to the imagination. How about those Girls Gone Wild infomercials ?

Oh well, PETA will get more publicity this way, and the video will go viral :D

24. They pulled that?!
They must have been offended by her not showing enough flesh, because a one second long distance shot of her ass crack is absolutely nothing compared to most cable fare. I'm pissed that I wasted my time watching it thinking there might be something censor-worthy in it.

I doubt it has as much to do with her "nudity" as it's because it's Texas. If I remember correctly, Texas is pretty big on their beef industry.
