Britain 'on board' for US strikes on Iran

Tim Shipman in Washington
Last Updated: 10:42am BST 07/10/2007

British defence officials have held talks with their Pentagon counterparts about how they could help out if America chose to bomb Iran.

Washington sources say that America has shelved plans for an all-out assault, drawn up to destroy the Iranian nuclear facilities and take out the Islamist regime.

The Sunday Telegraph has learned that President Bush's White House national security council is discussing instead a plan to launch pinpoint attacks on bases operated by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Quds force, blamed for training Iraqi militants.

Pentagon officials have revealed that President Bush won an understanding with Gordon Brown in July that Britain would support air strikes if they could be justified as a counter-terrorist operation.

Fucking idiots. What is there to say about people who actually encourage bushco to create even more havoc. So much for hopes that Brown wouldn't simply be a new poodle.

1. Could these 'Pentagon officials' have an agenda?
I just don't buy this story. I know I'm in the minority here, but I really think all these stories about us bombing Iran come out of one place - Cheney's office.

3. Perhaps, but Cheney almost certainly still has
an enormous amount of power.

5. I won't disagree with you there!
The Cheney-Oil Cabal has Afghanistan and Iraq. They WANT Iran and they know that they're just about out of time. Actually, I believe they're already out of time. They still could pull it off though. I pray they don't.

2. Setting the stage: no elections in Britain for 2 years!
Perhaps Brown had his reasons...

4. That's it, he IS the AntiChrist
I cannot fathom how an ill-mannered simpleton with the charisma of a checkered-suit pool salesman manages to thwart the popular will of entire countries and rope swaths of cleverer, more experienced pols to do his bidding. I just can't. It's impossible, but he does it again and again. It's bizarre and scary.

7. Brown has a competition with Sarkozy
on who is going to be the "best poodle" for the Chimperor.
