No one in the van was hurt; the motorcyclist was hurt but talking when they took him in the ambulance. The motorcycle was totalled.

Motorcyclist hit by van carrying Michelle Obama

A minivan carrying the wife of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was involved in a car accident this afternoon in northern Iowa where she was campaigning for her husband.

Neither Michelle Obama nor any members of the campaign staff were injured in the accident on a two-lane road, although the vehicle was totaled. It was being driven at the time by a campaign staff member, as is customary.

The other vehicle was a motorcycle. The campaign said the motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital.

"Barack and Michelle's thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this time," the campaign said in a statement.

I really hope this was just an accident and nothing more.

I'm glad everyone in the van is OK and hope the cyclist is too.
