Yoko Ono Lennon on Dennis K.
I watched Dennis Kucinich's video and was choked up listening to his sincere and eloquent words.
I was so impressed by a professional politician being on the same page as us.
All my life, I have believed only in grassroots efforts. I still do. But, today, clearly, we are together. That is nice to know.
I have decided to put this on www.IMAGINEPEACE.com and share it with you, knowing that it will be taken in the right spirit. I thank Dennis and I congratulate Ohio citizens for having such a remarkable representative in the senate.
Sending my love to all of you.
Yoko Ono Lennon

5. Do you think that Kucinich would accept no. 2 spot?
Say, Gore/Kucinich?

6. I would think he would.
If Gore was willing to carry the ball on some key parts of Kucinich's ideas (universal healthcare, ending the war, and emphasis on peace, emphasis on the working class). I think DK would get on board as a Veep, and I believe Dennis would be able to pursue some needed programs as VP.

Personally, I'd like a President Kucinich, with Albert Gore as a Secretary of the Interior or strong cabinet-level Secretary of Environmental Protection and Sustainability.

17. Gore has already endorsed single payer health care, back in 2002. I think
overall Dennis is more upfront and direct on all the isues that I care about, but Gore brings a wealth of experience, a pool of human resources, and could probably raise a lot more campaign cash a lot quicker.

So I'd have to give Gore an edge in term of experience, name recognition, and resources.

Either way, I'd be a happy camper!

15. That combo doesn't make any sense
Gore and Kucinich are very far apart. Gore has always been a centrist, DLC, free-trader. He has almost nothing in common with Kucinich.

And he has one foot firmly grounded in political reality. I think they would compliment each other.

since he hasn't declared himself a candidate nobody can say for sure what his issues or platform would be as a politician. He's said plenty as a private citizen.

We can cherry pick his speeches from the last six years all we want, it doesn't mean squat.

24. Right
he hasn't had to cast a vote in 15 years.

Had he stayed in the Senate, he'd probably be reviled here as a DLC corporatist. But in the vacuum, people here are ascribing their greatest wishes to him, regardless of his past.

39. in all honesty
I knew there was a reason I liked DK, and no it wasn't about him being "right" on many issues, or his hot wife, or the fact that I'd love to see him single-handedly impeach the president

...it's definitely because he's a Libra ;-)

11. Interesting connection between Kucinich and John Lennon
Dennis is a friends Alex Jack http://www.prevmedctr.org/ajack.asp who is also a close friend of Michio Kushi, leader of the macrobiotic community in Becket, Ma. Alex lives at the center.

Dennis is vegan, Alex is macrobiotic-both diets are based on a philosophy of peace. John Lennon and Yoko Ono stayed with Michio at his home in Brookline, Ma and became deeply involved in the macrobiotic way of life. That is how John lost a lot of weight.

Michio is from Japan and we all know that after WWII, Japan changed it's philosophy to that of a peaceful nation. Michio's philosophy about food is that peace begins One Grain of Rice at a Time.

Alex Jack is still involved with the One Peaceful World organization based at the Kushi Institute in Becket, Ma

More about Alex: http://quantumrabbit.com/aboutalex.html

When I was in NH in 2003, I went to a rally in Manchester to see Michael Moore speak. Dennis was there and I mentioned that he and I had a mutual acquaintence-Alex Jack. We had a great discussion about food and peace after that. Ever since, I have loved the guy. He is so down to earth and real.

12. Interesting indeed! I didn't know Kucinich is Vegan.
I had a group of friends who were macrobiotic, and all discovered the diet and philosophy through Michio and the Lennons. I knew one woman who rejected chemo/radiation therapy for breast cancer and went into complete remission after a year on the macrobiotic diet.

Kucinich has his finger on the pulse, more so than any other candidate excluding Gore.
Thanks for the link on Alex!

13. My pleasure.
I was a cook at the institute about 10 years ago and met many people who should have died but didn't because they changed their diet. But really, they changed their attitude and I think that, in addition to eating good food, improved their conditions.

Lots of people think Michio is crazy, and he is, but everything he as been saying about health since he first came here has turned out to be true.

14. Sadly, most pioneers suffer that fate.
I agree with you regarding attitude and health. I think that the whole "voodoo death" mechanism has a part to play in many deaths in which traditional medical treatments are followed.

36. This is from the wiki
Macrobiotics has long been touted as a preventative and a cure for cancer. Despite these claims, many long term practitioners of the diet have themselves developed cancer and subsequently died from it. Michio Kushi's wife Aveline and daughter Lilly both succumbed to the illness, as did Cecile Levin. Michio Kushi also developed cancer and resorted to surgery to aid in his recovery. In principle Macrobiotics offers significant benefits to good health, but one must always approach any philosophy with a questioning mind.

Critics opposed to macrobiotic diets in children claim that the diet (and similar vegetarian diets) are lacking in essential nutrients for proper growth and development. This argument is valid if the diet is poorly planned and if the caregivers do not have enough information regarding the diet.

The following nutrients should be especially monitored in children due to their importance in facilitating growth and function: calcium, protein, iron, zinc, vitamin D, vitamin B12, riboflavin, vitamin A, omega-3 fatty acids and energy.<3>

37. One of the problems with cancer statistics
is that it's difficult to monitor individual life experiences and exposures to carcinigens of the subjects. We don't know for instance if Michio was exposed to an above average amount of X-rays as a child, or lived in a heavily polluted or radon saturated area.

I don't know what the numbers are regarding macrobiotics and cancer remission, but I do know that conventional treatments almost always kill the patient, and at great financial cost to his/her family.

That being stated, I agree that in light of what we now know about antioxidants, supplementation of any regimen is probably the way to go.
