Ann Coulter calls for Jews to be "perfected", All Americans to become Christians

Conservative author Ann Coulter finds herself in the middle of a firestorm once again after remarks on a CNBC television show in which she said Jews need "to be perfected" and suggested the nation would be better off if it were all-Christian.

Appearing on "The Big Idea" with host Donny Deutsch on Monday, she said Christians were tolerant of racial diversity but that it "would be a lot easier" for Jews if they were to become Christians.

Deutsch, who described himself as a practicing Jew on the show, was clearly dismayed by the remarks, which he called "hateful" and "antisemitic," according to a transcript published on the Web by Editor and Publisher.

the "women shouldn't vote" remark, I'm amazed anyone takes Coulter seriously anymore. But, then, we are living in psycho world.

If this woman is following the person Christians call Christ---then I want nothing to do with him. What's that Jesus said? Ah yes, "You will know the tree by the fruit it produces." Forrest Gump would put it, "Christian IS as Christian DOES."

If we strictly follow "You will know the tree by the fruit it produces" then anyone who sins can't be a Christian.

Do you understand why it's kind of bigoted to assume that "true" Christians are always good people?

Ann Coulter is hateful and vile in her very character. No person like that should be claiming to be a follower of the Jesus we read about in the gospels.

We all "sin." We do not all make a living spouting hate-filled rhetoric toward gays, women, and others.

At what point is someone "bad enough" to automatically not be a Christian anymore?

God loves even Ann Coulter. But, people should practice what they preach. Jesus would never say, "Jews need to be perfected by converting to Christianity." True Christianity is displayed by love, grace, mercy, justice, and peace.

I cannot, and will not, believe that people who spew the opposite of that---people who say we ought to kill all the Muslims, and are filled with hate-speech toward gays, people who are warmongers, people who make a pile of money writing books that cater to the lowest common denominator like Coulter does is a true follower of the Jesus who is portrayed in the gospels she claims to believe.

I see you were able to figure out the trap you were being led into. Unfortunately it kind of opens up a can of worms no matter which way you answer it.

Look, obviously you are aware of the spot you're in. Can't you just admit that different people interpret holy books in different ways? Even liberal Christians disagree about significant areas of Christian theology (whether there is a hell, if people can be redeemed through works or faith, etc.). It in no way diminishes or negates a religion to admit that there are some pretty nasty followers of the religion.

OBL is a Muslim. A Muslim who believes his religion calls for the murder of heretics.

Ann Coulter is a Christian. A Christian who believes her religion calls for all people to become Christians. (Which is what the commandment - by Jesus - to go forth and baptize all nations is saying, BTW.)

Yes, both are hateful, foul, evil people who represent the extremist fundamentalist position of their religion. But if they believe they are members of that religion, then that is what they should be considered.

It is not fair to non-believers when you automatically dismiss someone you don't like from your religion, because that automatically lumps them in with us - implying that only non-believers can be SUPER bad.

Why must you bash poor, poor Ann? Hasn't she got enough to contend with simply by being her hateful, vapid self?

He was going out of his way to not criticize her and said he didn't hear anything against Jews in what she said. It was amazing watching the guy as he tried to defend her and make excuses for her. I was thinking he would come on and distance himself but not that guy. These dudes don't have a freaking clue.

The usual nothingness will occur it will make it's rounds on all the pundit shows, not one conservative will denounce it or even try to distance themselves from the harpy, because they all secretly agree with her, and the shrill skeleton shrink wrapped in leather will appear saying "what's the big deal? I'm more and more convinced that she doesn't believe anything that she says and is merely a performance artist who has learned how to earn big bucks from the right wing.

and emblematic of the lowering of standards (journalistic and otherwise) in this country. However, Donny Deutsch needs to stop being "dismayed". Deutsch got exactly what he asked/paid for. Coulter is a known quantity: a vile, far-right-wing harpie known for her trademark shocking remarks. Deutsch is not unintelligent. He invited her on his show and gave the skank a public podium to spout her venom. Despite the best efforts of Coulter and the Bush regime, this is still a free country, and Deutsch exercised his freedom. Fine. He got the ratings and publicity he was looking for and Coulter got her public podium. But everytime a TV host or TV station gives Coulter access to the airwaves they need to shut up and not be "dismayed" after the fact. Deutsch may not have been expecting anti-semitism but did he think Coulter was going to come on his show and daintily recite Little Bo Peep? And I'm annoyed at myself for even discussing that bitch. She doesn't merit attention or discussion from any of us, except as a malignant, cancerous growth on American democracy.
