Al Gore makes me feel proud to be American
:patriot:

Al Gore says honored to win Nobel Peace Prize

WASHINGTON, Oct 12 (Reuters) - Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore said he was honored to share the Nobel Peace Prize with the U.N. climate panel on Friday for their work on global warming and said he would donate all of the proceeds to the Alliance for Climate Protection.

"I am deeply honored to receive the Nobel Peace Prize," he said in a statement.

"This award is even more meaningful because I have the honor of sharing it with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change -- the world's preeminent scientific body devoted to improving our understanding of the climate crisis -- a group whose members have worked tirelessly and selflessly for many years."

Gore also said he would donate all of his share of the proceeds.

8. I nominate him to be the next President of the United States.
Can I get a second? :D

My great-grandmother loved Al Gore and told me 25 years ago that he was one of the greatest Americans she ever knew, and that someday he would help save the environment.

Wise woman. :loveya:

13. K&R.
The world can see another--truer--facet to America.

And a great majority of all Americans feel it is important to restore the environment, no matter the cost. It is not political, Gore is 100% accurate on that.

America is a nation at the ready.

Many will be proud.

Of course that is what they are saying on TV: "the Iowa caucus is only three months away... it's too late for Al Gore." :eyes:

Ga-Ga Gorebaby says, "POO POO!" to that. :D

I believe Gore could win the election even if he announced early next year.

The groundswell of support coming from the "Draft Gore" movement may increase the likelihood of his candidacy.

If Enough support emerges.....the delegates may change their committments to GORE

But I have to say it is remote...and if our new President can find a way to use GORE to head an EFFORT to restore Sanity to the World...it might entice him toward that effort....

Edited on Fri Oct-12-07 04:19 PM by Lisa

Swamp Rat, you and all Americans should be proud of him! He continues to do a great job of representing what's best about the US.

He insisted on coming down to the "overflow room" with the video feed. I was only about 3 metres away and had a clear view of him as he walked in ... his face just lit up, when he saw hundreds of college students sitting there! (The audience, many of whom weren't even in high school in 2000, jumped up and began applauding.)

During the in-class debriefing a few days later, the students I'd brought to the talk were still talking about how they hadn't expected him to be that funny or inspiring -- or that up-to-date on the science. You could practically hear the air hissing out of the media's overinflated "Al Gore is boring" stereotype. (I told them that I had learned my lesson, and that from now on I would not be having any guest lectures or other input from people who make my teaching appear dull by comparison!)

77. Al Gore makes me feel proud to be an American...
and it's been so long since anyone or anything made me feel proud to be an American, I honestly can't remember when the last time was. And there's something very badly WRONG with that picture!

78. He's on a list of my personal heroes.
He'd be there even if they hadn't awarded him the honor of the Nobel Prize, but I am so happy that he got to have it, to know that his work meant something, and that we saw that it did and wanted him to know it.

There are heroes all over America, and it's our duty to remember them, praise them, and make their lives meaningful.

Thank you, Former Vice President Gore.

Original!

Gore came the long way around since 2000 to make us proud~ The stinkin' court can't take that away from him or us.

You know Hillary's shaking in her panties today...
...waiting to see if Gore drops the other shoe and throws his hat into the ring.

K&R!

93. The only thing that would make me be really proud to be an American would be
if we all started rioting in the streets over illegal wiretapping, this ungodly and illegal war, and the incursion of the police state.

I was proud to be an American before the Iraq debacle when tens of thousands stopped traffic and tried to stop this war from happening.

Much as I like Al--and I always like a good nerd--he's not enough to make me really proud.
