Science Committee Chairman Gordon Commends IPCC, Gore on Nobel Award
October 12th, 2007 by Jesse Lee

From the Science Committee:

Chairman Gordon Commends IPCC, Gore on Nobel Award

(Washington, DC) The Chairman of the House Committee on Science and Technology Bart Gordon (D-TN) today issued the following statement on the Nobel Committee’s announcement that the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded jointly to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and former Vice President Al Gore for their work on climate change.

In February of this year, Chairman Gordon’s Committee was the first Congressional body to hear directly from the IPCC authors on their climate change findings. The Committee also hosted Vice President Gore at a hearing in March.

Chairman Gordon commented today:

“As a fellow American, Tennessean and public servant, I commend the Nobel Committee’s selection of Vice President Gore and the IPCC for this year’s Peace Prize. As my Committee has discovered first hand, each of their groundbreaking efforts on climate change has provided us with greater knowledge, tools and proof than ever before to combat this alarming phenomenon.

“Vice President Gore has devoted nearly 30 years to the subject of global warming. Though climate change is not the type of issue that politicians usually raise as a centerpiece of their message, Al took on the challenge long ago of convincing people that a global environmental issue like climate change was something they should be concerned about.

“We also must recognize the work of the IPCC’s more than 2,500 scientific expert reviewers from over than 130 countries who spent 6 years doing the work on the reports that have been issued this year. They have confirmed for us that the Earth has a fever and that inaction to ease that fever is no longer an option.

“We all want to leave our children a world filled with all the promise and wonder that we inherited from our parents and grandparents. We have no choice but to begin to act in a way that will secure that inheritance for our children.

“The work of Vice President Gore and the IPCC has provided us with a clear path forward on climate change. Now it is up to us to take action.”

1. In the past
MANY prize winners were enemies of the regime and of peace itself. Bush's America is no exception, being the only nation taught to despise and ridicule its homegrown prophet by the a$$hole MSM. Why this doesn't change things is because this is perhaps the ONLY nation where the common people have been successfully duped into potentially despising the Nobel prize itself. Traditionally the prize was meant to be an international statement bolstering a hero and the hero's work against local forces. This is certainly no exception, Coup America being the world leader against the human right to survive.

If this were Burma Gore would be placed under house arrest, but to the cheers of idiots drunk on the drugged up spittle of Rush Limbo. If they had a mind to they would make it difficult to travel to pick up the award- or to return. They certainly would have no coverage compared to the hoopla that one can imagine immediately being granted Little Boots or Reagan, or other "American" heroes of senseless war and human enslavement.

As for those also seeking to set aside the meaning of this award to quickly get Gore mired in the electoral chicanery and mess and media gauntlet, stop for a moment and push it for what it is, now. A challenge to America behind the Wizard's curtain. An affirmation of truth, hope and peace.
