I'm just saying when they are at home in their quiet time thinking about that day the kid died in their hands. It should bother them I would think.

Implying that race had anything to do with Vick's conviction is just sick, and it cheapens the real racial problems like this outrageous verdict in Florida.

Do you really think that a torturer like Vick should not be in jail? Really?

(And if you think that race had nothing to do with his prosecution, you are either naive or spectacularly misinformed. Come on down to Virginia. I'll show you around. It may open your eyes. There are scads of good ol' boys who continue to engage in dog-fighting, who will never spend a minute in jail.) But my point was that Vick WILL go to jail, while the murderers of a 14 year old black boy have been given a pass.

In my view as a black woman it seems like there are powers in charge (mainly the government & media) that seem to be egging it on.

Here in Los Angeles back in 1992 there was a combination of events that led to the uprising. The "not guilty" verdict for those cops that beat Rodney King was the LAST STRAW.

March 16, 1991, thirteen days after the beating of Rodney King, Korean store owner Soon Ja Du shot a 15 year old black girl named Latasha Harlins because she thought she stole a bottle of orange juice. The store security tape showed that the girl went to the store counter to pay for it but the store owner grabbed her and shot her in the head as the girl tried to pry herself loose from the store owner's grip. The video which was played over & over by the local news clearly showed what happen. The store owner was convicted of manslaughter but the judge decided not to give her jailtime and sentenced her to 400 hours of community service. That verdict (which came before the verdict in the cops' trial) laid the foundation for the uprising. Also during that time we had a racist police department headed by Chief Daryl Gates who would hold press conferences adding fuel to the flames by saying shit like "blacks might be more likely to die from chokeholds because their arteries do not open as fast as they do on ''normal people.'"

We also had a clueless, disconnected President named *ush running things.

Today we have clueless, disconnected *ush Jr. running things and I could NEVER in my 43 years on this earth think that racial tensions could get this bad.

I don't ever want to see another scenario like what happen here in 1992 but if these issues are not addressed and corrected now, history's guaranteed to repeat itself.

Those boot camps need to be closed and the punishers need to be punished.
