Why does the fucking cato institute have an image of Jefferson
on it's fucking website????

These fucktards are sooo anti-Jeffersonian, that it is very ironic!

My guess is, that these selfish libertarian bastards are too afraid or too stupid of putting up an image of their st. ronnie the brain-dead!!

And Fuck reagan, btw!

4. I don't recall which wingnut it was
...that claimed that he was a "Jefferson Republican". I believe it was either Allen or Santorum. My mouth dropped open & hit the floor. Then I remembered how republicans bend and twist reality until "reality" looks more like a cartoon than anything that the rational mind can comprehend.

7. Because the pix of Cato were taken already?
A lot of them there laisser faire types love to masquerade as "Jeffersonian strict constructionists". In reality, Jefferson was only a strict constructionalist when it suited him thwarting Hamilton and Adams. Witness the Louisiana Purchase. . .

At least Jefferson knew the impending threat to Enlightenment philosophy in action via a continuation of chattel slavery, witness his "wolf by the ears" quote. . . but he lacked the moral fortitude to back up his training and prose. Unfortunately, that is nothing new for intellectuals; my archnemesis in grad school was an ardent libertarian who had a tenured job at a public university, attended conventions and conferences on the State's dime, etc. Did he see the disconect? Yes, when called on it, but felt it wasn't for him to thwart the status quo just yet. . .

There is a disconnect between many thinkers and their daily bread. the latter trumps the former most of the time.
