McCain: Gore Shouldn't Have Won Nobel

McCain: Gore Shouldn't Have Won Nobel (tparty)

Classy:

Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain said the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, announced today, should have gone to someone else other than former Vice President Al Gore. "I would have liked to see that prize go to the Buddhist monks who are suffering and dying in Burma," McCain said after a speech this morning in Davenport.

3. are the burmese monks dying or suffering on account of their stand on the environment?
if they are not, and their dying and suffering relates to protesting any kind of dictatorship, maybe they could have been given a nobel peace prize for "Courage in Standing Up to Bold Face Dictators."

Now ... that is quite different than a getting a nobel peace prize for calling attention to the dire need to pay attention to our planet.

so ... is mccain a cain or an abel?

4. Please tell poor dumb John
that the monks weren't nominated this year. Please also tell pat Buchanan that the Swedish socialists had nothing to do with this Norwegian award.

Fret Rethugs, fret!!

6. A bit uncalled for

He deserves credit for what he suffered and survived.

I feel sad for what he's become and what he's abetted

9. More "straight talk" from Mccain, The monks weren't eligible because
they hadn't been nominated, also while I believe bringing democracy to Burma/Myanmar is definitely worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize, saving life as we know it over the entire planet trumps it. One other point, their leader has already received one Nobel Peace Prize, and she is still under house arrest, so I'm not sure a second one would carry as much weight, but I'm all for the monks and their cause.

My last point is Mccain's own political motivation, I doubt he would care so much if it weren't a Democrat and potential competitor receiving it.
