Sprint Center opening in Kansas City and our presence there last night
Edited on Sun Oct-14-07 08:49 AM by proud2Blib
We took the Cost of War flags to the Sprint Center grand opening. Elton John played for people who could afford the tickets. We reminded them as they entered the arena that the war on Iraq is costing us $720 million a day.

The anti=gay folks from Fred Phelps church were there too. They are on the right in this photo.

Here's a better picture of Sprint Center. It really is beautiful.

We advertised our upcoming march in November. It's free :)

On the way out, I saw this bumper sticker on a car and LOVED it!

1. I think I have said this before but it is worth repeating: Great banners
Those are great banners and glad to see you are reusing them at multiple outings

5. Too many
Actually it is there because of TIFs. So it represents a loss of property tax revenue. For many years.

4. The Sprint Center only cost $276 million
For what the war costs, we could build several such arenas a week.

Instead of killing Iraqis, we could have helped them establish a hockey league that would have been a shining beacon for the Middle East.

6. We told people we could be building nearly 3 Sprint Arenas every day
with the money we are spending in Iraq.

One girl walked by me, looked at my IMPEACH shirt and said "We love bush!" I said "I'm glad you do. He can use some love these days."

8. Good job!
I too love that bumper sticker.

What were the ticket prices for EJ?

A friend of mine was trying to get tickets for Garth Brooks (did he really sell out 9 performances there in 2 hours??) and for nose bleed crap seats they were asking $240.00.

It is a beautiful building but.......

How are your boys? PM me when you get a chance. No hurry, I am going to be in and out a lot today.

10. Most people I talked to paid around $100
There was this drunk guy trying to sell 2 tickets. Face value was $67 and they were nosebleed seats. He even said the tickets would just get you in the door. Anyway, he stood and talked to us for quite awhile and ended up giving away his 2 tickets to one of the ladies in our group. So she and her husband went and said it was fabulous.

One interesting thing. I saw a lot of people I know. My cousin, a few teachers I know in my school district. Then I saw one of our district insurance vendors walking across the street. He sells annuities to district employees. I have known the guy 20 years. I know him well. He dated one of my closest friends. I used to sit on an employee benefits committee with him. He has also sold me a few policies. I have an annuity with him ($250 a month out of my paycheck!) and I buy disability insurance from him. Plus I gave a deposition to his attorney for a lawsuit he filed about 10 years ago. We aren't talking casual acquaintance or just agent/client relationship. So when I saw him, I ran over to say hello and he took one look at my IMPEACH t-shirt and gave me the dirtiest look! He couldn't get away from me fast enough! I always figured he was a republican but I never expected him to be nasty.

So tomorrow I am going to cancel all the insurance I buy from him and find another vendor to give my money too. The Asshole lost my business. I even called my stockbroker this morning already and asked how I can get out of this annuity and transfer the funds to her. She is a good progressive. :)
