British poll: Conservatives take lead over Labor - Bush's new poodle not so popular

LONDON, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- British Prime Minister Gordon Brown suffered a significant new blow on Sunday with an opinion poll showing public support for the Tories at its highest level for 15 years, according to the Sunday Telegraph.

The ICM survey for the paper put the Conservatives on 43, seven points ahead of Labor, with the Liberal Democrats trailing badly on 14 percent.

If the figures were repeated in a general election, Conservative leader David Cameron would be prime minister with a single-figure Common majority, the paper said.

2. There probably won't be an election for at least 2 years
Anything can happen by then.

Also, the polls have been very variable. Some show a slight lead for Labour; some a slight lead for the Tories. It should perhaps be noted that the Telegraph is flippantly known as the 'Torygraph'.
