If Hillary does become the Nominee...then what Part could Gore Play in her Administration?
Many of us are for other candidates...but if Hillary did win the nomination...what role could Al Gore play in the Government? Is there a position anyone can think of where Gore could have power in the next Clinton Administration to work on making the changes that he thinks are necessary for our Global Environment?

Any thoughts?

1. Couple of ideas:
1. Head of the Environmental Protection Agency
2. Secretary of State
3. Ambassador to the United Nations

6. I was thinking Ambassador to UN...but wondered how effective he could be
there...given how weak the UN seems to have become. But, maybe his respect over the world could bring some needed positive reforms there. Certainly could undo a lot of what the Bush Regime of Bullying Crazies has done to undermine things there.

29. Gore was their VP choice the way Lieberman was Gore's. No love lost between either pair, IMO. nm

Sorry, that was uncalled for. :banghead:

11. Hey, I'd love to see Bill Clinton take over again.
Not that he was perfect, far from it. But I think he learned from his mistakes and its not an easy job to learn. Thats the trouble with the presidency, there are so few true statesmen to begin with, and so few who become statesmen. Al Gore is a statesman. Hillary is a politician/campaigner.

Its a double whammy. Wow, now I'm really going to join the Hillary camp because of the quality of the insults.

20. What a silly response, daninthemoon. Not had your coffee yet?
"The job is too big for her" is such a common anti-female slur that usually occurs to silly males without a clue. No one has intimated that the job is "too big" for anyone else.

You know you're being sexist and you're hiding behind a primary race to let off your sexist wad.

(BTW, I don't like Hilary for pres. because she is now promising to support the war. That, I think, is a legitimate criticism.)

30. The job is far too big for Dubya. Arguably too big for one person to carry.
I mean, it couldn't possibly be a reference to the size of the job she's seeking, her political motivations and endurance, the current state of the office, amongst other things, could it?

The intention of the poster counts for something, not just your knee-jerk reaction.

He may well work in some unofficial capacities in regards to global warming issues. That would be good.

10. None. He's an international voice now.
To become the partisan voice representing one government's interests is too small a job.

But I can imagine him being asked to head special commissions or attend certain meetings.

17. Since this crisis is not a political issue
Edited on Sun Oct-14-07 01:01 PM by RestoreGore
I doubt he would wish to make it one which is exactly what it would become if he takes on any role regarding it in a Democratic administration. We won't be able to enact solutions to this crisis in time without the work of Americans regardless of politics. Therefore, I will continue to suggest to the Secretary General that he be designated as the first UN Global Environmental Ambassador to continue his work on a global non politcally partisan basis.

18. Gore has said he has zero interest in a cabinet or federal position
KING: No cabinet position?

GORE: No.

KING: No federal position?

GORE: No. Not because I don't have the greatest respect for what an honor it would be to serve in such a position, but I have -- I have zero interest in doing something like that.
