A Plus for Nancy Pelosi this Morning on ABC's Snuffy/Will/Cokie Show.
One Plus for Nancy Pelosi today on Snuffy's Show.

She said that "Kyl-Lieberman is not a "blank check" for Bush to go to war with Iran...and Snuffy asked her if that meant Bush would have to come back to Congress...and she said "Yes!" However she clarified that if "we were attacked the President has the authority to immediately retaliate."

At least she's gotten the message from "the people" who put the Dems back in power that we need her out there telling Bush that he doesn't have a "blank check" unless we are immediately attacked."

When asked about Cindy Sheehan and the end the war activists she said something like "I understand their enthusiasm...I want this war to end and I understand their passion and we will work to end this war...but we don't have the votes." (she cut herself off realizing she shouldn't say more...I thought) but at least she didn't attack Cindy or the left.

I thought she appeared on ABC with Snuffy...in a way to answer the bad press she's had about the "riff raff" hanging out in front of her home in SF. The liberal and even Moderate Dem Blogosphere has had lots of angry comments about Pelosi's statement in Dana Milbank's article in the WaPo that made Nancy look like an "Elitist."

It's good to know she heard the anger from the Left and that she called up ABC and agreed to appear to try to make some amends. However, the panel on Snuffy said she was "flip-flopping"...but then that's all those Sunday Pundits ever say about Dems.

So...some hope for Pelosi that she heard the Angry Left and Middle on Kyle-Lieberman and her comments about folks hanging clothes in the trees and camping out in front of her home.

1. If Milbank's article made Pelosi appear elitist, it also made Milbank appear biased.
I'm just as frustrated with Pelosi as a lot of other Liberals are but Dana Milbank's piece was a hit job.

6. I thought so too...until I saw the transcript where Dana did take "liberties"
for his RW/WaPo in his column...but what she said was what she said...

I have "mixed feelings" on this...that's why I posted a "PLUS" for Nancy...because I was suspicious of Milbank..even though what he said was kind of with the transcript of what she said at that "chicken dinner...where she left her food on the plate." :-(

I'm sorry I don't have a link for the actual transcript...I read so much ...it's hard to go back in my hard drive to find the transcript. Maybe another DU'er will post it. Thank God for our DU "Transcript Loggers" ...without them...where would we ever be able to verify our posts.

9. His descriptions--barracuda, grinning maw, unsmilingly, etc.--were over the top.
I'm not against adjectives but just us tell what happened, Dana. We're smart enough to figure out whether we like it or not.

2. The framers of the US Constitution
never intended for Congress to give up its right to declare war against foreign nations.

Pelosi can slice and dice it any way she wants, but she and Dems in Congress were derelict in their duty as elected leaders to respect and enforce the US Constitution.

3. She says it is not a blank check
But Bush can treat it like one and then what would she or the congress do?
They can't cut off the funding because they would not be supporting the troops right?
So a strongly worded statement is about all they have, and a single Senator could stop it in the Senate.

8. That means an Iranian will attack us soon. Either in Iraq or here.
:scared:

The IWR wasn't suppose to be a blank check for endless wars either though....and look how well that worked out.:( The psychos will use the Iranian resolution the same way.

10. That's the hanging question....Nancy has to know about "False Flag Ops" but
she was at least acknowledging that there's anger on the Left... Even if Congress will still allow him to get away with what he's done in the past.

I'd like to think that Dems read him a Riot Act...sat him down in front of a coloring book with captions and led him through why they will IMPEACH HIS BUTT if he Tries any Funny Business with Bombing Iran.

But, i gave up those hopes for our Dems in Congress back with Daschle...except for that brief afterglow of 2006 Elections...when for one brief shining moment ...i had some hope...that was dashed shortly after.
