Putin told of plot to kill him in Iran
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071014/ap_on_re_eu/russia_putin_threat

MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin has been told about a plot to assassinate him during a visit to Iran this week, a Kremlin spokeswoman said Sunday.

The spokeswoman, who spoke on customary condition of anonymity, refused further comment.

Interfax news agency, citing a source in Russia's special services, said suicide terrorists had been trained to carry out the assassination.

A spokesman for Iran's foreign ministry, Mohammad Ali Hosseini, denied any such plot had been uncovered, characterizing the news as disinformation spread by Iran's adversaries.

"These sort of reports are completely baseless and in direction with psychological operations of enemies of relations between Iran and Russia," Hosseini said in a statement.

Putin is to travel to Tehran on Monday night from Germany after meetings with Chancellor Angela Merkel.

But lets say another nation who is having a tizzy over both Putin & Iran is looking for an easy answer to deal with Putin, and a reason to paint Iran as evil....

6. not friendly enough to US interests
I won't be surprised if US will openly or surrepticiously channel millions of $$ to alter the outcome of Russian elections the same way we did in Ukrain and (to a lesser degree) Kyrgyzstan and Georgia.

In an attempt to bring more compliant Russian administration that will not resist attempts to bring democracy to the middle east.

9. Putin's got alot of nuke technology in Iran and has warned us NOT to bomb Iran
or we'll have to deal with Russia. And since Russia is debt free and swimming in cash, and our country is practically bankrupt, I think they might be a real problem. So it's easier to have bilgewater or the cia bump him off and blame terra.
