WOW! Bush is declaring victory over your Democrats!!!
He said he found common ground with them on FISA, Iraq, and some other things. Every single thing he mentioned as "common ground," was his wish coming true!!!

I am fucking embarrassed of the leadership in the Democratic Party.

That's why little Lord Pissy-Pants always gets his way....because we're soooooooooooooooo effective at "oversight" and "accountability"....

12. Actually, this Congress has blocked
more of his initiatives and voted against his desires more than any Congress in recent history. Nice try, though.

16. How many times has the war been re-funded since January??
When did Habeus Corpus get restored? Posse Commitatus? When did they stop wiretapping without warrants?

Bush's ONLY initiative is war, War & MORE WAR. The Dem congress keeps giving him money to continue...

Nice try, though...

18. Well, if you believe that Bush only has opinions on the war and nothing else,
then I can see thinking that the Democrats always bow to him. Of course, that's absolutely insane, but if that's what you like, go for it. (Oh, and re:wiretapping? You might have missed that FISA legislation that just passed)

The problem, of course, is that there is no public outcry regarding the war in any particular direction. People don't want to stay forever, don't want an immediate pullout, and don't want to see it defunded. You can hardly fault the Democrats for not pursuing a path that only 15% of America wants to see followed.

21. the fisa legislation that just passed that makes spying without individual warrants
legal for the first time in US historY? That Fisa legislation? The one which allows blanket warrants on any group of people, say people who call France, then all the people they speak with, and all the people those people speak with? with no warrant? with no cause? that legislation? Are you proud of that?

22. Has that FISA legislation crossed Bush's desk yet and been signed into law?
or is it something that he will veto or render moot via signing statement?

If you think his biggest issue isn't the war, you haven't been paying attention.

27. And more than the Republicans did to Clinton,
or the Democrats to Reagan, or to Bush 1, or to Carter, or to Ford, or to Nixon. I haven't looked farther back than that.

6. Victory with a 24% approval rating and
a littany of stuff he's demanding from Congress. Bush is an ass! His message hasn't resonated and he's taken to doing photo ops to give the impression he is succeeding.

to realize just how hard some Dems are fighting against this cabal, you like far too many others are falling right into their trap which is to ensure the Dem's are rendered useless, I hate threads like this, wake up and do more research on whom is doing what and why the things needing to get done are being set aside by this administration...

What you should be doing is attempting to find a way to help them get out of the quagmire this administration and it's minions they have put this country in....

We can't forget, "we are the government", its ours not theirs, if anyone should be embarrassed it is us the people, we have lost the ability to fight for our freedoms. We just don't know how any longer and we need to remember how.

25. The Democratic Party is becoming a party without a constituency
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 01:17 PM by tom_paine
Our Democratic Leadership has played into Bushied hands in every possible way. Time and time and time and time and time and time and time again.

It is unbelievable and I have no doubt that watching the German Socoial Democrats crumble before Hitler and the Nazis 1931-1934 time and again must have been a very similar experience, but add to it the personal phsyical danger that the Nazis realtive violence comapred to current Bushies must have added to it A LOT.

But still, in spite of the differences in magntiude, the feeling in thinking people must have been the same.

Why they have done it is a question fgor history, because I grow daily more convinced that I will not live long enough to see America free again. Like Imperial Rome, it may NEVER go back to being free.

And yes, this group of Democratic Leaders are in fact the most shameful we have ever had, the most unAmerican, the weakest, the least representative of the American People, the least attached to the apparently anachronistic sentiments expressed in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Still better than Bushies, though, by a long dight and I will be pulling the D in '08, for whatever that is worth (I suspect nothing) anymore.

It doesn't mean I feel like I am represented by them.
