Gore rules out presidential bid

Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth was an unlikely box office hit
Former US Vice-President Al Gore has ruled out again making a late entry into the 2008 presidential race.
In an interview with Norwegian broadcaster NRK, he said he would not make a fresh bid for the White House.

Mr Gore told NRK he wanted to focus on his climate change campaigning, which won him a Nobel Peace Prize last week.

Smart man.

5. Yep he doesn't have "any plans" be a candidate again.
I, personally, didn't plan to post on this thread. But I changed my mind.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7048370.stm

Asked how it would affect his political future, he replied: "I don't have plans to be a candidate again so I don't really see it in that context at all.

"I'm involved in another kind of campaign. It's a global campaign to change the way people think about the climate crisis."

6. The title is a lie, he never said that, look at the actual qoutes attributed to him.

"I don't have plans to be a candidate again so I don't really see it in that context at all."

"I'm involved in another kind of campaign. It's a global campaign to change the way people think about the climate crisis."

He never said ruled out, that was the media. Everything Al Gore says is present tense, the media turn it in to future tense.

I believe this is just an effort to squelch his rising popularity after the Nobel Peace Prize and as the continuous record drought throughout the South and West make global warming more apparent every day to the people. The media are trying to shut down a potential candidacy now, as the Draft Gore movement is picking up steam.

7. A caller to the Thom Hartman show, earlier today said that
Gore was misquoted. He said if you look at the original statement, it is no different from what he had been saying in the past. I believe he found this in the Guardian, UK, but I haven't looked for it yet.

9. Wow -- I tuned out Hartmann before that caller, and Thom made it sound final
Considering the strength of our field (even without Pres. Gore), I can't believe how dejected I've been lately. This coronation of The Queen has me absolutely depressed ... I feel like Al is our only hope to avoid the *inevitable*.....

:argh:

12. I found this in the Telegraph
Asked how the prize would affect his political future, Mr Gore told Norway’s NRK television: “I don’t have plans to be a candidate again so I don’t really see it in that context at all.”

The caller's point was Gore's reaction to whether or not the prize will make him run, the answer was no, the prize doesn't change anything. But reading it myself, I don't know. I don't get any special message from it.

10. So why doesn't he tell draftgore.com that he's not running?
Because he still hasn't ruled it out.

All he said in that interview was, "I don't have plans to be a candidate again". Same thing he's been saying for a year.

11. Boy the Hill-heads are really trying to convince us that Al is not an option
Even going so far as to put words in his mouth.

Why are they so afraid?

15. Because...
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 02:56 PM by regnaD kciN
...Hill's Shills know that, as long as the possibility remains that Gore is an option, they won't be able to completely stampede everyone into their "we have to unite behind our obvious nominee right now" meme, and thus short-circuit the nomination process before it even begins.

he said.
