Women Send Panties To Myanmar Embassies In Protest
Women send panties to Myanmar in protest

Fri Oct 19, 4:54 PM ET

BANGKOK, Thailand - Women in several countries have begun sending their panties to Myanmar embassies in a culturally insulting gesture of protest against the recent brutal crackdown there, a campaign supporter said Friday.

"It's an extremely strong message in Burmese and in all Southeast Asian culture," said Liz Hilton, who supports an activist group that launched the "Panties for Peace" drive earlier this week. The group, Lanna Action for Burma, says the country's superstitious generals, especially junta leader Gen. Than Shwe, also believe that contact with women's underwear saps them of power.

To widespread international condemnation, the military in Myanmar, also known as Burma, crushed mass anti-regime demonstrations recently and continues to hunt down and imprison those who took part. Hilton said women in Thailand, Australia, Singapore, England and other European countries have started sending or delivering their underwear to Myanmar missions following informal coordination among activist organizations and individuals.

"You can post, deliver or fling your panties at the closest Burmese Embassy any day from today. Send early, send often!" the Lanna Action for Burma Web site urges. "So far we have had no response from Burmese officials," Hilton said.

1. We should be sending them to Chevron
because they are a good deal of the problem.

Can I get arrested for sending underwear to Chevron?

3. I wonder if photoshopped contact would be as sapping?
If internet pictures of the junta adorned with Victoria's Secret's best thong would be as emotionally effective?

15. Now that's worth a shot....
...and who knows. Maybe the effort will help a general or two to get in touch with their feminine side, and end this madness...

The article says their website is http://lannaactionforumburma.blogspot.com/

7. men's underwear for peace
I'd suggest we all send our underwear to the White House in protest of everything it's done, is doing, and is planning on doing, if I didn't already know how much it would excite them.

22. I'd do it in lieu of my hard-earned but worthless
U.S. dollars. If there's penalties and interest for sending in my grunders late, I'd be more than happy to go down to the office and pay them in turds, but I'll take my change in Euros, TYVM!:D

18. I suspect most, if not all of these.....
....so-called "generals" ruling the country now have some kind of sexual dysfunction. If not impotency. It would also explain their rage and psychopathy in bludgeoning priests and starving a nation.

If "regime-change" were ever justified, this is it. Preferrably changing from inside the country. But we're most often forced to stand by and watch, as the death toll mounts and the rest of the world issues protests and condemnations. And threatening sanctions that end up hurting they very people we're trying to help.

So we're left with hoping that they'll just turn upon one another. Which is what they usually end up doing....

21. Well this should fix everything,
surely the murderous rich greedy dictators will surrender to womens' dirty underwear. After killing a whole bunch of their own people, this is what'll make them come around.
Every politician world-wide should get women's dirty stinking underwear in the mail, not that it will change their policies, but more as an affirmation that we your subjects agree with the outcome of your decisions.
