In all these arguments about whether it is ever okay to speak ill of Democrats, or whether we should unite as a solid force, one thing keeps getting overlooked I think.
Some things are just plain wrong.
Torture is just plain wrong.
Wiretapping without any judicial oversight is just plain wrong.
Signing statements are just plain wrong.
Ignoring Congressional supoenas without any repurcussions is just plain wrong.
Using the Justice Department as an equivalent to a set of mob hitmen is just plain wrong.
Election fraud and unverifiable electronic voting machines are just plain wrong.
Starting, and continuing a war based on a set of documented lies is just plain wrong.
Mortgaging our children's future for a handful of criminals is just plain wrong.
I could go on and on, but I'm sure my point is made.
Now, the question is, why do we lose track of these simple truths? Why do they get drowned in a sea of compromise and a discussion of the "lesser of two evils"? If Democrats support or enable all of these "just plain wrong" things, we need to let them know that these things are just plain wrong, and we won't tolerate it. If they keep it up, we will replace them with other Democrats who DO recognize these things as just plain wrong. We already know the Republicans can't tell what is "just plain wrong" so we MUST rely on the Democrats. But at the same time, we must let them know that we won't tolerate things that are just plain wrong, and if they keep supporting them, we will replace them.
Okay, I know -- if I remain patient, we'll take everything in '08, THEN we can set things right. Right? The problem with this is that voters respond to truth and courage. And the Democrats have shown little of either (of course the Republicans have displayed NONE of either). So the voters give Congress an 11% approval rating. Nobody is terribly happy about our candidates, except the ONE NON-CANDIDATE who does speak truth and shows courage.
As has been said many times, even by the MSM pundits, the Democrats were "hired in 06" to change things. And they haven't. So we have a right to let them know that if this keeps up, they lose their jobs. No, Republicans are not an alternative, but progressive Democrats are.
