Politico, Wash. Times uncritically reported GOP claims that Dems unwilling to compromise on SCHIP

Summary: In articles on the recent congressional vote to override President Bush's veto of the SCHIP bill, The Washington Times and the Politico uncritically reported that Republicans are urging Democrats to seek a compromise, but did not note that the legislation Bush vetoed represented a bipartisan compromise.

1. Did you expect more?
Talking points have been distributed. Reality has been altered. Move along, nothing to see here.

3. How The Game Is Played
Several Senate Democrats, again, are wobbly...this is the game played to push them into submission. The "intrepid" like Levin or Feinstein who are afraid of being labled as "weak on terror" and when they see these headlines they freak out...falling for the meme every time.

Yep...these are regime generated talking points to, once again, "frame" the debate and now is sure to be echoed by the corporate media because it is "Conventional Wisdom".

2. If that's true then good on the Dems
They should be unwilling to compromise on SCHIP. They should be unwilling to compromise on a whole shitload of issues like ending the Iraq debacle, FISA, investigations of Gonzales, Miers and other corruot officials, and impeachment of cheney and bush. It's about time they showed some spine. I understand the intent of this article was to make the Dems look bad, but to me it implies just the opposite.
